Overview

Intel 1700 socket compatible "full black" version

The NH-U12A chromax.black CPU cooler is the 100% black version of the award-winning Noctua NH-U12A high-end silent cooler. Retaining the asymmetrical design of the single tower heatsink and using NF-A12x25 PWM fans, it stays true to the NH-U12A concept of cleverly combining cooling performance, silence and incredible RAM / case / PCIe compatibility. With its black-clad heatsink and black fan, chromaxNT-H1 version and a full 6-year manufacturer's warranty, the NH-U12A chromax.black is the perfect choice for users looking for a highly compatible 120mm fan that can compete with 140mm models and offer cooling performance to match its great looks. Compatible with the Intel LGA 1700 socket, it supports Intel Core processors from the 12th generation onwards.

A redesigned heatsink

The NH-U12A chromax.black is black from head to toe: the radiator, fans, silentblocks, mounting clips and accessories are all black. This makes it easy to create full black configurations or to combine with other colour themes. Thanks to a completely new and cleverly designed 7 heatpipes, a 37% larger heat sink area (compared to the NH-U12S) and a more compact design, the NH-U12S can be used in a wide range of applications. The NH-U12A pushes the limits of the 120mm format to match or even surpass many 140mm fans.

New generation fans

The NF-A12x25 is a new generation of ultra-optimised 120mm fan featuring Noctua's latest innovations in aerodynamics for unprecedented levels of cooling and silence. Leveraging the strengths of this high-end fan in a push/pull configuration is the key to the superb acoustic and thermal performance delivered by the NH-U12A.The high-end 120mm NF-A12 fan supplied with the NH-U12A is PWM-compatible and therefore benefits from automatic speed control via the motherboard: optimal performance or virtually inaudible depending on the processor's demands. In addition, to further reduce noise emissions, the maximum speed can be capped from 2000 to 1700 rpm by connecting the supplied low noise adapter.

    Super high performance

Very easy to install, clear instructions. Quiet and cools the processor perfectly, even under heavy computing loads.

    Why anything else?

The build quality is excellent, the new 120mm noctua fans are very efficient, and it manages to cool an i9 9900KS (I haven't had anything more recent yet).
As much as I'd like to fit a custom watercooling system for fun, I'll never put anything other than aircooling on my PCs (I even tried the peltier on a PIII 750).
Don't procrastinate, this is THE cooler you need.

Noctua quality, nothing to complain about as always

Perfectly matches my expectations, efficient and quiet.
Replaced a very noisy AIO watercooling system (pump).

    top-notch, simple and efficient

I used to have a Noctua NH-U12 se2 for an i7-4770k which worked perfectly for about ten years, so it was only natural that I should turn to Noctua again.
I like this black version, which is a change from the old beige version that is typical of the brand, the fan attachments are simpler than on the previous model mentioned above, and the sound quality is still very good, very quiet.
The efficiency is good on a Ryzen 9 7900x3d: I rarely exceed 75°C!
on the other hand, consider Low Profile ram bars if you plan to use the 1st slot.

    mixed we'll see with time

We're not going to lie, I'm very, very, very scared of it ... yes, it sets up very easily, too easily even, and that's what worries me, with the weather and the rise in temperature, I'm having doubts about its durability (I'm in no hurry for the next heatwaves) ...

Already, the support on the CM is well fixed, but the radiator only has 2 screws to fix it to the support, until now ALL the ventirads I've had at hand were fixed with 4 screws to their support for good load distribution ... now I'm not reassured, the screws are fixed to the centre of each side and with the weight over time I'm afraid the top of the radiator will take up some slack ...

Then the fans are just clipped on with 2 poor metal bars, the slightest shock and they jump off ... -_- and once again, with the heat, I'm afraid that these 2 pieces of string will expand and the venti will fall off ... that's for sure, it's very easy to remove and maintain, but it's just too easy ... I prefer to have the venti aimed at the rad, it's more complicated to maintain, but much more economical.

I wouldn't be surprised if I changed ventirads quickly ...
