Processor fan for Intel socket and AMD

Overview

Exceptional silence!

The NH-D9L is a top-of-the-range fan tray with dual finned coils, specially designed to deliver a high level of cooling despite a height of just 110mm. Its exceptionally small footprint (15 mm less than conventional 9cm models such as the NH-U9S) not only ensures full 3U compatibility, but also enables this model to integrate perfectly into the design of your system.HTPCs and enclosures with a reduced form factor, where the airflow runs parallel to the motherboard.

With a footprint of 95x95mm, the NH-DL9 does not encroach on memory slots or PCIe ports on all Intel ITX motherboards and most models for AMD. The included PWM-compatible NF-A9 fan automatically controls rotation speed, ensuring surprisingly quiet operation.

A second optional NF-A9 can also be installed, in Dual Mode, to meet any increased performance requirements. Complemented by the SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system, a true top-of-the-range reference in the field, and the famous NT-H1 thermal paste, and backed by a 6-year manufacturer's warranty, the NH-D9L is a highly compact premium solution ideal for restricted environments.

A low-profile tower fan
While more compact fans generally blow perpendicular to the motherboard (at the front), the NH-D9L is a tower-type model that blows parallel to the motherboard. It therefore offers better ventilation performance in cases fitted with suction (front) and exhaust (rear) fans that create an airflow parallel to the motherboard.
Full RAM compatibility
Thanks to its 95x95mm footprint, the NH-U9S does not encroach on the memory slots of current Intel and AMD motherboards. This gives full access to memory arrays and ensures total compatibility with high heatsinks and optional memory fans.
3U compatibility
Whereas standard 9cm fans, with a height of 125mm, are designed for 4U cases and racks, the NH-D9L has a height of just 110mm, which enables it to fit into 3U cases. This makes it the perfect solution for 3U applications where noise levels are a sensitive issue (e.g. audio or video workstations).
NF-A9 high-end fan
The highly-optimised NF-A9 fan is distinguished by its AAO Frame and the numerous aerodynamic optimisations it benefits from (such as Flow Acceleration Channels), which give it an efficiency that exceeds that of other models.efficiency that exceeds that of previous Noctua 92cm models, maximising the NH-D9L's cooling performance.
PWM compatibility and Low Noise Adapter
The NF-A9 92cm fan supplied with the NH-U9S is PWM compatible, enabling automatic speed control via the motherboard. What's more, for even quieter operation, the maximum rotation speed can be capped from 2000 to 1550 rpm by using the L.N.A. adapter.
Dual Mode compatibility (Dual Ventilation)
For users wishing to enhance cooling performance, the NH-U9L is supplied with an additional kit of clips for attaching an additional NF-A9 fan to the front finned battery. By using the Y-cable supplied with the NF-A9 PWM fan, it is possible to connect both fans to a single CPU fan connector.
NT-H1 thermal paste
Noctua's NT-H1 is a top-of-the-range TIM solution that has won over 100 awards from specialist journalists around the world. It offers very low thermal resistance and is surprisingly reliable and easy to apply.
Compatibility with old and new sockets
Compliant with the SecuFirm open standard, the NH-D9L can be made compatible with older LGA1366 and LGA775 sockets by using the optional NM-I3 mounting kit, supplied free of charge by Noctua. Unless technically impossible, Noctua will also provide adapter kits for future sockets.
SecuFirm2 mounting system
Noctua SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with safety, reliability and ease of installation. The SecuFirm2 mounting system supplied with the NH-D9L ensures perfect contact pressure and is easy to install, whatever the socket.
6-year manufacturer's warranty
Noctua fans are renowned for their quality and astonishing longevity. As with all Noctua fans, the NF-A9 has an MTBF of over 150,000 hours, and all components in the NH-D9L package come with a full 6-year manufacturer's warranty.

Simply perfect performance/dimensions! But beware of adapters!

Excellent performance! Exactly what you need!
-> Used to restore a PC that was switched on for the first time in 2011! (Win7 x64 Cpu AMD Phenom II X6 1055t) confirmed this afternoon perfectly stable at 36°c on Witcher 3 in medium! This processor was known to be very temperamental when the heat was on, so this Noctua is perfect for sensitive procos! And its dimensions are perfect for resteints.
BIG BEMOL, the adapter, precious adapter (Noctua AMB8) for socket AM3 was not in the box contrary to what is informed on their own site! But Noctua sent it to me, and it took a lot of patience, so I'm finally going to be able to clear my living room of the bulk of PC parts.
Next purchase a more powerful compatible Gpu to test in medium/high and other to see the maximum it can still handle without overclock (old graphics card gtx 650 deceased replaced by GT730 troubleshooting) but finally it revives.
-> It's a great buy for your new and old machines, its dimensions are really perfect when you're short of space in the case but beware they do NOT systematically send the adapters mentioned (nb I informed ldlc big up to them ^^).
    Bon geekage/retro-geekage tous! 8D

    Very good for Core i3

Very good and more than sufficient fan heat sink for the Core i3 in a Mini Tower case for a Mini iTX motherboard.
The parts and screws are of very good quality and can be reused if needed.

Noctua, always up to the task.

The product does its job, instructions and installation are easy. I like the quality of the different parts in the kit.

In fact, it is (almost) perfect!

Yesterday I made a derogatory comment about the mounting system of this fan. Shame on me! I had read the instructions wrong: all I had to do was remove the fan before fixing the heatsink on the socket and, above all, to accept that this fan, once put back in place (after screwing it in), would be a bit higher than its original position.
In my defence, I was used to receiving Noctua heatsinks in parts (unmounted fans) and as on this one, the fan was already fixed, I (hastily) concluded that it should not be touched.
Once this is said, I have to admit that the equipment is of great quality and particularly quiet.
And now I'm off to the salt mines for a few weeks to learn to think a little before posting ill-founded recriminations.

    Fixing system to be reviewed

Congratulations to the designers of the socket 1200 mounting system!
Impossible to reach the fixing screws correctly because of the ventilator, which prevents a straight screwdriver from going through... straight (the one supplied by Noctua or another): the screwdriver must necessarily be inclined and, as a result, the screws cantilever out and refuse to be screwed in correctly. Never mind, says the smart guy: I'll take off the ventilator, and then I'll be able to screw straight. Good thinking, but... once the heatsink is attached, it's impossible to replace the fan unit, because the screws are now tightly screwed in, but they won't go in. And, of course, there is no indication on this subject in the manual, which only invites you to screw the screws in (well, that's something!)
