Not much to say. Just make the connections and it works!
My old NEC DVD drive/writer is recognized immediately and can be used again on my new motherboard without IDE port.
The only negative point is the price, which is higher than that of a new drive.
Absolutely no problem using it under Linux, everything works perfectly. Used with two CD drives daisy-chained on the same tray.
I used this card on an ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 motherboard to be able to use DVD drives as well as IDE hard drives.
These 2 elements are recognized without any problem.
I had bought an IDE/Sata adapter for another PC which did not allow me to use the DVD drive. I recommend using a PCI card for this purpose.
Connected objects, DVD drive, hard disks or others are detected in the bios!
This card is a bit expensive but this solution is very preferable to SATA-IDE adapters which work but in a degraded way (I also tried this solution which disrupts PC start-ups and results in slow disk accesses whereas everything is normal with this card).
I recommend this solution especially for a PC renovation. (In order to keep its basic configuration with a new motherboard and especially to still have its CD and DVD burner/player. If you want to install a SATA or SSD drive later or immediately next to it, this is recommended).
