The PEX2S5531P PCI Express card transforms a PCI Express slot into two RS232 (DB9) serial ports and one parallel port. Based on a unique native chip design, this 2-port serial adapter card allows you to exploit the full capacity offered by PCI Express (PCIe), improving speed and reducing the load on the CPU by up to 48%, compared to conventional serial cards based on a bridge chip design. Compatible with many operating systems including Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/Windows 7/Server 2008 R2 (32 and 64 bit), Linux Kernel 2.6.11 and later versions as well as MAC OS 10.4, this 2-port serial and 1-port parallel PCI Express card also includes an optional low-profile/mid-height bracket that allows the card to be installed in virtually any computer case, regardless of form factor.

- Two high-speed RS-232 serial ports with data transfer rates of up to 460.8 Kbps.
- One parallel port with a data transfer rate of up to 1.5 Mbps.
- Conforms to PCI Express Base Specification, Revision 1.0a.
- 128 byte FIFO per transmitter and receiver.
- Configurable in 5V, 12V and RI (non-powered) modes.
- Selectable power output on pin 9 for the serial port.
- Single native chip, single PCI Express lane.
- Automated out-of-band flow control using CTS/RTS and DSR/DTR.
- Automated in-band flow control using Xon/Xoff programmable in both directions.
