I'm just worried about the external power supply staying plugged in all the time.
The USB cable is too short too
Bulky product (admittedly, it is meant to hold an external DVD player) and not very nice design.
Minimalist connectivity too.
works very well and a tip: remove the small plate on the drawer of the DVD player you are going to put in
I needed to scan over a thousand CDs and more than a 5"1/4 slot in my tower.
The PLUSses :
* It's plug'n play
* It absorbs vibrations well
* The anti-slip pads are very efficient. I was afraid with the vibrations of a drive that it would move a bit
I was afraid that the vibrations of a player would cause it to move a bit * It's big but you can stack dozens of CDs on it without it moving
* There is an ON/OFF button.
The MINUSES :
* It looks a bit cheap as a construction
* The spring that holds the door in front of the cart is a bit too stiff, and the drawer has a bit of trouble to come out, so I removed the spring.
* The blue LEDs on the case are not deactivatable unless you disconnect them from the internal electronic board.
Used to retrieve a BD writer when switching from a tower PC to a NUC, this case is easy to access, the cover opening screws are camouflaged in the shape of the feet and can be turned by hand without effort.
The USB 3 and SATA cables are included, as well as the hardware (so you need a screwdriver, even though the case opens by hand).
For those who are bothered by the LED lights, as I am, you just have to unplug them via the 3 small connectors on the bottom plate (you can keep only one...).
The push button to open the door of a CD/DVD/BD drive is a bit light; handle with care. If you mount a hard disk in it, I recommend inserting silent blocks (using suitable screws) as a disk directly on the metal may create sound vibrations (this is the case with the BD player, but there is no room to add more while keeping the drawer aligned).
The delay between sending the order and receiving the package is a bit long. But patience and I make two.
Works well for the moment, but poor quality finish and assembly, to be seen in time.
Easy to install, aesthetically pleasing, quiet, does the job, no worries with the button, looks reliable, but only time will tell
This box is used to place a DVD burner. No problem of installation. I'm not convinced that the LEDs are useful to light up the 3 sides of the case. I'm not convinced. On the other hand, the case is very large with a lot of space lost inside and the power supply is external, which is another problem (a very fragile wire). I'm not sure how to use it, but I'm not sure it's a good idea to use it.
Hello
This is a well made product that fulfils the function it was designed for.
Contrary to what you can see on the picture (bowl on the fixing nuts at each corner), the case is not designed to be stacked, the nuts are in fact flat.
Blue light perfectly useless in my case. I would have preferred a simple, more discreet activity indicator LED.
Amazing design; you either like it or you don't.
I changed PCs and wanted to continue using the drives from the previous computer without necessarily installing them in the new one.
The pluses:
The installation of a drive in the case is quick and the recognition is immediate by the computer.
It does the job for the few times I use it.
Minus:
The box is bulky.
The lighting is not necessarily useful.
The flap did not open when I opened the player. I had to open it manually and since then it opens without any problem.
As I rarely use the player and I have fallen for a magnificent tower from NZXT which no longer has a 5.25 bay. I opted for this external case.
The weak point I encountered was the opening of the flap... I have to help it but for the little I use it.
For the rest, I find it quite well made.
for those who don't want the lights, remove the connectors inside the case ;)
Purchased because my new tower does not allow the installation of a DVD drive. Screws for HDD or DVD drive included. Easy installation.
I can now use my Blue Ray drive/writer again.
The manufacturer could have done without the blue lighting and the drawer release button looks a bit tacky. To be seen in use
A bit too expensive for this product.
I had ordered an internal Blu-ray player only to find that my PC case did not support players. So I bought this external box and it does the job very well. It is easy to install. The fact that I can turn it off when I'm not using it or the blue light when it's on is very convenient. The only downside is the price.
I installed a blue ray burner with no problems; no problem connecting to the pc via a USB 3.0 port; too bad you can't turn off the led light which is a bit useless.the box is also a bit bulky
I installed a bluray burner ...no particular problems...well recognized...what worries me is that this kind of interface will become obsolete...not easy to find...so plan and anticipate!!!
I installed an ASUS BW-16D1HT Blu-ray burner. http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00152185.html
usb3 and e-sata burning all successful
The only drawback is the size and space available. A built-in power supply could have been included inside.
The appearance is even better than the picture! The materials are of good quality.
The box is supplied with an external 12V power supply and 2 1m cables: USB and eSata.
The blu-ray writer (Pioneer) is at ease, held in place on the bottom plate by 4 small screws supplied with the case. No tools are needed except a Phillips screwdriver for the 4 screws... it's really very easy!
The blue LEDs can be deactivated: I kept the 2 sides lit and disconnected the front tilting drawer lighting for discretion.
I'm happy with this purchase and delighted to have completed my Mac.
