Product meets my expectations, very simple to use and easy to mount the hard drives.
Everything is perfect, delivery and parcel.
The device was delivered without a hitch as usual by LDLC.
The only thing is that the device continuously shuts down, goes into standby and disconnects all the disks, impossible to set or remove this option, the only possibility is to turn it back on manually (so no backup, no 24h playback).
I think this is an important point that should have been mentioned!
But that unfortunately LDLC did not stipulate in the description of the material.
So, "Malfunction or forget" for my part, in both cases, "REBUS"!!!
Fast delivery. Product conforms. Good quality. Very satisfied.
I have used LDLC before. Always as good as new.
The system for installing the discs is very well done. The system works very well. The documentation is terrible (even on the internet), it's hard to understand how it works even after reading it several times.
Connected in e-SATA to a mini PC. Proper continuous operation. Spin down supported with all drives.
Downside: When the machine is temporarily shut down, the case automatically shuts down. It is then necessary to switch it on again.
Works in a closed, lightly ventilated cabinet with other fanless machines. No abnormal temperature rise.
Used as a storage device on a raspberry that acts as a nas without any problem. No problem with disk detection, volumes are well recognised and mount correctly under raspbian. I have not noticed any untimely reboots.
The only problem I have after more than a year is the noise. The fan can be heard quite a bit, so avoid it in a living room, otherwise plan to change it for a less noisy model.
It is indeed what you would expect from a USB 3 box of this type.
But really noisy: this is not noticeable if the rest of the environment is already noisy (PC, room...) but when used as a media player this defect is often reported. The problem is largely solved by adding small plastic washers to the fan mounting.
Very easy to install and use when you download the detailed instructions (not included).
I have had it for about 6 months now and I am not very happy with it. It's impossible for me to leave it plugged in, and considering how I've arranged my cables, it's a bit of a hassle to plug it in and unplug it each time. Then, it heats up and not just a little, if you leave it closed, the discs easily rise above 50°C, which is frankly not great, they could have provided vents. A bit slow to start too
Apart from that, I don't have any problems with the deco, the transfer speed is pretty good.
I will maybe make a return for the power supply.
Simple and functional box: dedicated to a multimedia player and its backup. Much less intrusive than a NAS.
One downside: noise... solved by adding small plastic washers for the fan.
Criticism: loosely described as supporting RAID; it only works with a bold, set up under Windows.
Just what you'd expect from this box.
USB 3 nickel.
Not at all noisy, if you can hear it at all.
Very easy to install and use.
I don't understand the previous comments at all as I turn it on when needed and it turns off when I close my computer. And I really haven't noticed any overheating.
In my humble opinion their problems came from already defective HDDs. They built them into the case with their existing problems.
It must be better to install HDDs that have no previous problems. Of course, if the HDD is already making noise and overheating, it's better not to put it in there...
To conclude, this box is useful for regrouping all your HDDs and not for trying to save an already moribund HDD.
Note that once the 4 HDDs are integrated it weighs a little but that's all.
