    an easy-to-implement SIN, but...

a NAS that is easy to set up, but...
The DS920+ NAS that I ordered and received in the shop within a reasonable time frame is exactly what I expected. The web management interface (updated) is much better than what I experienced on my previous WD NAS. I have equipped my new NAS with 4 HDDs in Raid 5 mode and the File Station package (application) manages the files without any problems. However, after populating the HDDs with (part of - more to come -) my data files - notably about 100,000 photos - I installed the Synology Photos package (latest version). First problem, the name of the managed folder is imposed (Photo) and does not correspond to what I have already loaded. I then had the unpleasant surprise to find - after 2 days of indexing - many of my photos upside down. I then discovered that on the Syno forums users were already complaining about this problem in 2017! Moreover Synology Photos does not manage the folders I created and I would have to re-sort and re-fold them manually in its interface (100,000 photos to split!). Bad point for Synology. I uninstalled this app. Fortunately, File Station allows me to display image files as thumbnails and keeps my filing in folders. Otherwise, the remote file management interface on mobile (equivalent to the local File Station) is fine. That's it for now.

    SYNOLOGY DISKSTATION DS920

Not much time in use so far. But everything perfect for now. Potential exploitation still low.
4 stars only: plastic casing does not inspire great durability. Used to metal casings which seem more solid.

Perfect for setting up a Plex server

Compared to my DS218play, it's night and day in video server with Plex. No more constant lags that I had via the Internet and often even locally on my TV. It even does the hardware transcoding for me.

I did add 4GB of RAM and two SSD caches but I think I could have done without them

    A nice little NAS

The only thing missing is how to add additional memory to the system.

    Almost Perfect!

    Hello people :)

I put 8/10 for this model because I think it lacks a bit of boost to run several VMs.

I bought this product to save my documents.
However, when I saw that this model can do a lot of other tasks and especially the use of VMs, I went for it !

For storage, 4 x 4TB hard drives on a Raid 5 with a total of 8TB of storage.

Regarding performance, it runs at 4GB of RAM. This is very little to run multiple VMs (given that Windows 10 takes a minimum of 2GB and you have to leave a little for the NAS "DSM" OS).

I've seen that you can double the RAM, but you can't go over 8GB, as the processor is limited to 8GB too! XD Youhouuu!

In summary, this product is perfectly correct and complete for the average person.
For people who are into computers, you always ask for more XD
I'm going to buy a server and use this NAS as storage for my VMs, etc.. (That way I'll have more power!)

I was about to forget, I find that for 629 € the box is a little light especially for this price (it's my opinion ^^). I'll say that plastic is good for the ecology, but I think they could have done a little better...

See you soon for more adventures with LDLC (the best!) and myself!

    The descendant of the DS916+

After a bad storm my DS916+ died ... A migration without problem of the discs towards the new DS920+ which frankly works wonderfully! Not disappointed with the change it largely meets my expectations. I'm not disappointed with the change, it's a great solution for my needs, with a small footprint, good performance and a modular SSD cache that can be upgraded.

    Synology NAS920+

I would like to tell you that it is at the top, it works well and that I had no problems. The only difficulty I encountered was replacing my old disks in the new one because it was impossible to migrate the disks, so I had to reinstall and recreate the users one by one.

Very good NAS. Fast and scalable.

I am used to Synology and I renewed my equipment (DS213) with the DS920+. It's a big step forward in terms of performance. Even with the basic configuration, there is no photo, it is reactive and very fast in LAN (aggregation of the two RJ45).
I've been using it for more than 15 years now, but it's really easy to use and the applications available are numerous and of good quality. I chose this NAS because it is possible to upgrade it (adding RAM and M2 NVMe). I hope to keep it operational for a long time. I don't give it a 10/10 because it's still an expensive product and the competition offers better component/price ratios. But the current LDLC offer (still as good as ever) has convinced me...

    What to say? It's Synology

A NAS that is a little more expensive than the competition, but with strengths in the software, which is often overlooked by some buyers. For example: user rights are very finely adjustable.
Having had an Asustor and QNAP NAS in the past, I wanted to test Synology. The test was a success because I appreciate this product more and more, even if it doesn't have some of the features of other brands such as 5 or 10 GB/s... But who has a fully 5 or 10 GB network? Not me and I have no use for it despite a Zappiti media player connected to the NAS.
I dared to migrate from DSM 6 to DSM 7 unfinished version, I am waiting to see the stable version. To date, no disappointments, simply notable changes compared to DSM 6 but not prohibitive, on the contrary.
Note that I bought 4 GB of additional RAM and two 120 GB LDLDC SSDs to activate the read/write cache (RAID 1).

    I recommend it.
