Overview

A practical and efficient solution

StarTech.com 's PEXSAT32 2-port ExpressCard SATA 6 Gb/s controller card provides simple connectivity between a host computer and SATA 3.0 devices. It is a cost-effective solution for connecting high-speed storage devices, such as high-speed drives and SSDs, which in turn enable easy data backup and archiving.

Compatible with SATA 3.0 hard drives and supporting data transfer speeds of up to 6 Gbps, the adapter card features a unique PCI Express chipset that enhances compatibility, reliability and performance to meet external SATA 600 MB/second storage requirements.

Flexibility and simplicity

The controller card is backward compatible with SATA 2.0 devices, allowing the use of older storage systems. It also supports RAID 0 and 1 modes and port multiplier capability with command-based switching and FIS. This allows multiple external hard drives to be connected to a host computer via a single external SATA connection.

The SATA controller card is a dual-profile solution, it includes a small footprint and half-height bracket allowing installation in slimline or small form factor computer enclosures.

    Correct

Works correctly on Win 10. No visible slowdown from a motherboard controller.

Only one minor remark: the two hard drives connected to it appear in the "you can eject" list .... "Just be careful not to make a mistake when ejecting a USB stick.

    Incompatibility

    Hello
The note reflects the non-compatibility with my dell workstation! I only had one slot available in x4 and nothing worked so I reused the dell sas controller.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use a different controller.

Not compatible with recent Linux kernels.

Although described by LDLC as being compatible with Linux, this card (Chipset 88SE9128) only works, according to the manufacturer, with Linux kernels whose version is between 3.5 and 4.4. What I was able to verify. It is therefore impossible to upgrade a Linux machine running with this card.
A positive point: the professionalism of LDLC which, one month after the order, accepts a return.
One question remains about this surprising restriction of Linux compatibility on the part of the manufacturer: would it be the choice to favour the Microsoft driver?
