This USB 3.1 PCIe controller carddesigned by StarTech.com fits into a free PCI-Express x4 slot on your computer and allows you to upgrade your current system by adding two SuperSpeed USB-A (10 Gb/s) ports. This controller card allows you to connect two USB-A Gen 2 (10 Gb/s) devices to your desktop computer. The USB-A ports are ideal for connecting USB devices such as external hard drives and SSDs, or for powering and synchronizing your mobile devices. USB-A ports provide up to 4.5W (5V/0.9A) of power per USB port and are backwards compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gb/s) and USB 2.0 (480Mb/s) devices.
The USB 3.2 Gen 2 card features an ASMedia ASM3142 host controller that uses two lanes of the PCIe 3.0 bus, enabling it to achieve 10 Gb/s throughput on each port and provide fast access to high-performance devices such as NVMe and SSD drives. The controller card supports "Multiple Ins" to maintain maximum speed when multiple devices are connected, even via a USB hub (note: the USB hub must also support this feature). It also supports the UASP protocol to improve the performance of storage devices.
The expansion card comes with full-height and half-height installation brackets to allow you to install it in a matching PCIe 3.0 x4 slot (backwards compatible with PCIe 2.0). It is compatible with Windows, Linux and macOS, so it supports many platforms. Drivers install automatically on computers running Windows 8 or later for easy installation. Compatible with USB 3.1/3.0/2.0 devices
