D-Link Green Technology
With D-Link Green 3.0 technology, the DGS-1210 Series is at the forefront of developing innovative, energy-saving technologies without sacrificing operational performance or rich functionality. When devices connected to the switch are powered down, the switch places the corresponding port in standby mode to reduce power consumption. It also automatically detects the length of connected cables to cut power to the smallest connections (up to 20m cable). D-Link Green certification ensures that the switch complies with the EU RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives. The RoHS directive aims to restrict the use of certain hazardous substances during the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment. The WEEE Directive applies standards that promote the proper disposal and recycling of waste in order to reduce the amount of waste.

Perfect integration
The DGS-1210 Series switches feature 10, 16, 24 and 48 10/100/1000 ports for connection to existing Category 5 twisted pair cables. In addition, the last four ports of the DGS-1210 series combine SFP and copper connectivity in a single port. This provides the flexibility for server connections via a fibre interface. Default settings allow administrators to quickly and automatically configure the switch and users to easily access the network.

Versatile management
The DGS-1210 Series switches also feature a SmartConsole utility and web-based management interface for administrators to remotely control all levels of the network. SmartConsole enables the detection of multiple smart web switches contained in the same L2 network segment. With this utility, it is possible to retain the IP address of the computer and have a simple initial configuration for the smart switches. Switches in the same L2 network segment, connected to the user's PC, can be accessed in real time via a screen. The configuration settings of the switches and the basic configuration of the detected devices (password changes, firmware upgrades) can be improved. The DGS-1210 Series switches also support D-View 6.0, D-Link's Network Management System and the Compact command line interface via Telnet. The switches' command line interface is managed via Telnet. The most basic settings can be adjusted (e.g. changing the password, downloading firmware or configuration files).

Quality of service and bandwidth control
The switches are ideally suited for deployment in a VoIP environment. This is because it supports Auto Voice VLAN and Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) for the VoIP application. Auto Voice VLAN automatically routes traffic from an IP phone to an assigned VLAN, facilitating VoIP service. With a higher priority and an individual VLAN, this feature ensures the quality and security of VoIP traffic. The DSCP tags the parts of an IP packet to allow different service levels to be assigned for the same network traffic.

Comprehensive Layer 2 features
Equipped with a full Layer 2 feature set, these switches offer IGMP monitoring, port mirroring, Spanning Tree and LACP. IEEE 802.3x flow control allows your servers to connect directly to the switch for fast, reliable data transfers. In simultaneous bidirectional mode at 2000 Mbps, the Gigabit ports provide your servers with high-speed data channels that limit data loss during transfer. For network maintenance, the system features loopback detection and cable diagnostics. Loopback detection identifies loops created by a port to automatically shut down the affected port. With cable diagnostics, network administrators can quickly examine the quality of copper cables and define different types of errors.

Strengthen your network security
D-Link's unique Safeguard Engine protects switches from traffic overloads caused by virus attacks. The switch also supports port-based 802.1X authentication, which allows the network to be authenticated with an external RADIUS server. In addition, network security is enhanced by the access control list. And you protect the internal IT network at the same time. The DGS-1210-48 has an ARP spoofing detection option that protects the Ethernet network from possible attacks that cause data frames on a LAN to be detected, traffic to be altered, or traffic to be interrupted by sending false ARP messages to the network. To prevent ARP spoofing, the switch uses access control lists to block invalid packets containing false ARP messages. DHCP server filtering enhances the security system by filtering out rogue DHCP server packets from user ports, thus preventing unauthorised IP address assignment.
