Interesting but you might as well know the limits of the technology
The product itself does exactly what is expected of it, with (it seems, I have had it for 2 days) very good performance.
It is ideal for creating a second network on another floor of the property. I can imagine for example professionals who have their business on the ground floor and their private ones on the upper floors.
On the other hand, the technology used (but it is exactly the same as the Netgear Orbit), is based on 5 GHz frequencies normally dedicated to Wifi.
Base and Satellite(s) communicate exclusively on these bands (via a technology with 4 antennas each interacting with 4 other antennas), while the wifi created from the satellite is in 2.4 GHz.
It is therefore better than a 2.4 - 2.4 relay because in this case, the signals interfere with each other, but it cannot be said (as the advert does, but Orbit is the same) that it is a dedicated network.
The problem is yet to come, when more and more devices will use 5 GHz.
Another concern is that the SSID (the network if you like) issued by the base station and used by the satellite must remain public. This is a security hole, but I don't know if it's the same on the Orbit. The 2.4 wifi, on the other hand, can be invisible.
I didn't use the downloadable configuration tool, but I did everything via the web browser. It works very well. I preferred that for the handling.
So all in all, I would buy again. The value for money is good. But I have a different definition of the word dedicated (although if I thought about it, the allocation of wireless communication bands is highly regulated).
And frankly recreate a small network with a gigabit output, a wifi, 4 connections at 100 Mbits to connect his Synology backup ... Great!
