No problem
Hard drive has not failed for years (>3) despite operating 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. Too bad the capacity is not higher than 1 TB. Used (x2) in a Raid IcyBox IB-RD2253-U31.
WD Red Plus hard drives offer a wide range of solutions for customers who want to build powerful NAS storage. Designed for NAS systems with 1 to 8 bays, WD Red drives can store all your valuable data.
2,5" 1Tb 16Mb Serial ATA 6Gb/s Internal Hard Drive - WD10JFCX (bulk)
Specifically designed for 1 to 8 bay NAS systems, Western Digital Red Plus hard drives are built to run 24/7 and are aimed at home and small office environments. These 3.5" hard drives are built around 64 to 256 MB of cache on a SATA III bus. They are compatible with most major NAS servers.
Western Digital's exclusive NASware technology , built into all WD Red hard drives, improves the storage performance of NAS systems by eliminating common problems related to compatibility, integration, upgradeability, reliability and cost of ownership issues that are common with traditional hard drives designed for desktop computers.
NASware optimizes power consumption to achieve significant energy savings and minimize hard drive operating temperatures. This improves overall drive reliability and performance and reduces the cost of ownership of your NAS system.
With intelligent error recovery commands , NASware prevents hard drives from being excluded from RAID through improved error recovery. This results in better availability and less time wasted rebuilding the RAID.With command completion and for improved reliability, in the event of a power failure, NASware minimises data corruption or loss by still executing the current command before shutting down.

I'm not a fan of Western Digital, but it's a very good drive, even if I'm not a fan of Western Digital. It does the job but I feel the 5400 rpm, especially when you are used to SSDs, it gives a little nostalgic Windows XP feeling. For storage it is very good. In 2021, for an operating system, take an SSD.
8 drives of this type ordered since 2014, running 24/7 in two Freenas NAS in RAID10; only one gave up the ghost after a few months, which can happen with hard drives (the so-called "infant mortality" phenomenon). The performance is good for a 5400 RPM HDD, the noise is contained and it supports relatively high temperatures (mine, grouped by four, rarely go below 40°C; the SMART does not flinch)
I ordered 4 WD RED drives for my Freebox Server NAS and made a RAID 10, very good for long term storage.
Used in a TS-451 NAS from Qnap, nothing to say. The speeds are there and they hold up well over time. Typical western digital.
