Perfect

It's been a little over a year since I installed it (no problem for a Zalman Z11 plus) and it seems to stand the test of time, I don't use it often but it feels solid, no play in the hinge and obviously all metal. I don't hear any noise when a drive spins inside. Unlike my sata usb adapter, SMART data is detected directly. There is a blue light when a drive is present and a red light when there is activity. The lock is a bit of a gimmick I think, I feel like if I pull hard it would break, I don't use it anyway. I'm not using it anyway. For backup or long tests it's perfect as nothing is lying around on the desktop, there's less risk of the hard drive being smashed.

Oops!

if you have a workstation type D20 or S20 IBM-Lenovo the mounting of the Rack internally is not compatible. The reason is that the clip system supplied with the PC to install a CD player case or other is not adaptable to the AVIS ICY BOX mounting angles, and it is impossible to fit screws on the right-hand angle side.

        Well

good product easy to install and remove. The mechanism seems robust, to be confirmed over time

product OK, but delivery leaves something to be desired

        product OK, but poor delivery
        - The delivery man obviously forced his way in
        - The delivery man didn't even bother to ring the bell, even though I was there all day...if he had, the parcel would not have been damaged.

Very good, a little more mixed about the "buttons" on the front.

The dock is of very good quality: the door is made of metal, the seal holds well while letting the dock close without any problem and the door handle itself gives a quality impression (surely due to the materials used).

I'm a bit more mixed on the two "buttons" on the front, in reality they are more like two indicator lights and they are not at all lit in green (only light up when you put a hard drive in, which is a positive point) but in blue and despite the "button" type touch, pressing them doesn't seem to have any effect.

Another point is that the dock is not fully enclosed, which can be a problem with the quick release systems on some cases (make sure you can attach it directly with screws and therefore have access to both sides of the 5.25" bay.

But other than that it's a good hard drive dock.

        excellent material

50,000 exchanges... Without quibbling about the figures and their origin, that's a lot. But the question remained as to who resisted this treatment, the box or the discs?
Because it goes without saying that it is the discs which, because of their cost AND their content, are by far the most precious.
The sensitive point being the contacts (normally designed for a very limited number of connections/ disconnections), I observed the mechanism very closely, and, good surprise, there is no friction: the contacts of the box come to rest on those of the disc thus causing practically no wear.

For the rest, everything is well thought out and pleasant to handle.

I confirm that the sata and power cables are included.

Attention: if you want to take advantage of the anti-vibration effect of the silentblocks, you have to mount it carefully. In contrast to a DVD player, which forms a rigid box, there is a mounting rail on each side, which is only connected to the rest by the rubber blocks. In order for these silentblocks not to be under tension (and therefore effective) the 5"1/4 bay must be the right width (about 146mm). To do this I had to use washers in one of my towers. In addition, it is necessary to ensure that the front part (especially once a disc is loaded) keeps a sufficient distance from the elements that surround it so as not to transmit vibrations.
The four original screws need to be completed by four others as the rails are independent.

In short, all these mounting precautions are not absolutely necessary, but if you manage to do it, the result is really great.

As for the use, on my computer it's for backups and storage, and on the other one the rack hosts the main disk, which can be replaced by an old one to try formatting, partitioning and installations for a beginner without taking any risk and finding everything in order afterwards with the original disk.

        very good

-Supplied with a sata cable (data) and a 4 pin sata to molex power adapter, 4 screws and 2 spanners... this sata/molex adapter also has a small connector that powers the front LEDs (so you have to use it otherwise no LEDs), the top LED is blue and informs of the presence of a disk in the rack, the second one (underneath) is red and lights up when the disk is working and can't be removed without risk There is a minimum of a few lines of instructions that are useless ... the leds are also buttons and I don't know what happens if you push on them, same for the removal of the hot disk (when the PC is running), not the slightest info on the net in French ... in short, I will continue to play it safe. I also have an ICY-BOX 168Sk-B which seems less solid and less interesting for barely 5 euros difference (no SATA data cable, and the LED only works if you connect the rack to the motherboard)...In short, despite the lack of info, the 166SSK-B does its job if you have the use for it.
