The ICY DOCK FatCage MB901SPR-B R1 is a dual-bay RAID enclosure that supports 2 x 2.5" or 3.5" SATA hard disks or SSDs in a 2 x 5.25" optical drive bay of your computer/workstation. The MB901SPR-B R1 is equipped with an integrated RAID chipset and features easy-to-read RAID status LED indicators, allowing you to effortlessly mirror 2.5" or 3.5" drives for data redundancy and monitor RAID status without the need for a RAID card or RAID monitoring software.
In addition, the integrated RAID chipset performs all calculations without using system resources, improving system performance compared to motherboard RAID or software RAID. Finally, removable drive trays and hot-swap functionality allow you to replace a failed drive without shutting down the system, making the MB901SPR-B R1 the perfect drive enclosure for any mission-critical computing system, such as industrial automation and file server systems.
Integrated RAID 1 and JBOD
Thanks to the integrated JMS562 RAID chipset, you can effortlessly add a RAID 1 array to any computer system using a SATA connection without the need for a RAID controller card or a RAID-compatible motherboard. Simply connect the FatCage RAID enclosure to the system's SATA and power ports, insert two 2.5" or 3.5" hard drives, and FatCage automatically mirrors the drives for data redundancy to prevent data loss or system downtime caused by hard drive failure. In addition, the added JBOD mode allows you to view two individual disks (SATA port multiplier required) or erase the RAID table of disks without using disk erase software or MS-DOS commands.
EZ-Tray Interchangeable System
The FatCage RAID MB901SPR-B R1 is equipped with removable EZ-Tray disk trays, allowing the user to install or remove disks without opening the computer case or turning it off. The EZ-Tray supports 2.5" SSD/HDDs and 3.5" HDDs and is compatible with FatCage and DataCage enclosures, including the DataCage MB876SK-B (1x drive), FatCage MB153SP-B (3x drives) and MB155SP-B (5x drives). This allows you to continue to use the same disk trays in these enclosures and swap disks between systems without removing the disk from the tray.
