The TVS-872X features two Gigabit ports and one 10GBASE-T Multi-Gigabit (10G/5G/2.5G/1G/100M) port for high-speed networking to support bandwidth-intensive applications (including virtualization, large file transfer, high-speed backup/recovery, and multimedia transmission). QNAP's manageable and non-manageable 10GbE switches are ideal for organisations that want to establish cost-effective high-speed networks for productive team collaboration. Also, the TVS-872X includes four USB 3.1 ports with transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps, providing compatibility with newer and faster USB disk/expansion enclosures for transferring large media files.

Gain performance with SSD and Qtier cache

For optimal I/O and reduced latency, you can configure the SSD cache using either 2.5-inch SSDs or two NVMe 2280 M.2 SSDs (sold separately) in the TVS-872X. Additional M.2 SSD slots can also be added by installing PCIe QM2 cards, allowing you to configure your M.2 SSDs in a RAID 5/6 array to achieve higher sequential speed or read-only cache speed similar to the performance of a RAID 10 array while maintaining high storage efficiency.

4K HDMI output for multimedia content and VMs

The TVS-872X features Intel® UHD Graphics 630 which supports hardware decoding and real-time transcoding*. The HDMI 2.0 output supports up to 4K (3840 x 2160p) at 60 Hz. This provides exceptional benefits for applications such as video production/editing or industrial design that require high resolution and colour realism as well as huge media storage, transfer and display capabilities. By connecting the TVS-872X to an HDMI display, you can run virtual machines from Virtualization Station or Ubuntu Linux Station, or directly watch the media content stored on the NAS. QNAP HD Station also allows users to enjoy multimedia directly using HD Player or third-party players such as Plex Home Theater.

Enhanced Collaboration

The TVS-872X centrally stores data and files, and supports SMB/CIFS, AFP, and NFS protocols for file sharing over Windows, Mac, and Linux/UNIX networks. In combination with the Qsync utility, any file transferred to the TVS-872X will become available to all linked devices (such as desktops, laptops and mobile phones). You can synchronise shared folders and team folders for group file sharing to enhance the flexibility of team projects and collaborative work. Support for Azure Active Directory Domain Services (Azure AD DS), Windows AD, and LDAP services helps system administrators manage user accounts and permissions for multiple NAS devices more efficiently.

Build an affordable Fibre Channel SAN environment

Common Fibre Channel SAN devices are often expensive. By installing a QNAP dual-port 16/32 Gbps Fibre Channel expansion card in the TVS-872X, you have more affordable options to add a NAS to a SAN environment. You can configure a Fibre Channel target using the iSCSI & Fibre Channel app. In addition, the LUN masking and port binding features provide an extra layer of security for your data.
