QNAP's TL-R1220SEP-RP is a 2U RAID rack for 12 x 2.5"/3.5" SAS 12Gb/s / SATA 6Gb/s hard drives or SSDs designed to expand the storage space of your QTS or QuTS hero NAS. You can daisy-chain up to sixteen expansion enclosures via high-speed mini SAS cables to support up to 4.6 PB of dedicated raw capacity.
Featuring Broadcom SAS DataBolt bandwidth optimization technology, the TL-R1220Sep-RP consolidates 6 Gbps infrastructure into 12 Gbps. When connected to a QTS/QuTS hero NAS that supports multipath routing, the TL-R1220Sep-RP can achieve smooth data transmission and continuous system operations.
Achieve up to 96 Gbps with link aggregation
The TL-R1220Sep-RP is powered by a 28nm SAS35x28R expander and supports 12/6 Gbps SAS/SATA drives. Also, it has four 12Gbps SAS 3.0 SFF-8644 (x4 Channel) wide ports. By connecting the TL-R1220Sep-RP to the host NAS and daisy-chaining multiple JBODs with two wide ports configured with link aggregation, the solution provides a transfer speed of up to 96 Gbps.
Supports SAS DataBolt technology
Featuring Broadcom SAS DataBolt bandwidth optimization technology, the TL-R1220Sep-RP includes an intelligent buffer to transfer data to disks at speeds that match the performance of the host NAS. Regardless of whether the TL-R1220Sep-RP uses 12Gbps or 6Gbps disks, the host NAS will transfer data to the TL-R1220Sep-RP at 12Gbps, allowing you to take advantage of high-speed 12Gbps SAS transmission with the existing 6Gbps infrastructure.
Connect up to 16 JBODs
The TL-R1220Sep-RP has four 12 Gbps SAS 3.0 SFF-8644 (x4 Channel) wide ports. You can daisy-chain up to sixteen TL-R1220Sep-RPs for up to 3.4 PB of raw capacity.
Use the CAB-SAS10M-8644-8088 12 Gbps to 6 Gbps external cable to connect to the SAS NAS/REXP expansion enclosures and the 6 Gbps SAS HBA.
The NAS host requires a QXP-1620S-B3616W SAS card to serially connect sixteen JBODs with single lane routing. Using multipath routing with link aggregation enabled, the host NAS with one QXP-1620S-B3616W SAS card can serially connect four JBODs; the host NAS with two QXP-1620S-B3616W SAS cards can serially connect eight JBODs.
Storage Management
With the Storage Manager and Snapshots on the host NAS, you can configure and manage the TL-R1220Sep-RP's settings (including RAID groups, storage pools, and snapshots), allowing you to easily expand the NAS storage to accommodate large data or backup files. You can also configure and manage the TL-R1220Sep-RP via the Console Port.
