I bought this drive to complement 3 WD RED Pro 8TB drives in raid 5 on a QNAP TVS 1282.
I took it because it was cheaper with a higher MTBF!
We'll see in the long run, but I trust WD. It's more expensive, but worth it.
On an old NETGEAR NAS, which is over 10 years old, I had 4 2TB drives, 2WD RED and 2 Seagate GREEN. Guess which of the cheaper drives no longer work?
I was looking for a nice space to save my photos, videos, various and numerous files, beyond the reasonable limits of the "cloud". This 8,000 GB drive does the job very well. It responded immediately when I plugged it in and is faster than the other hard drives already in my PC.
I bought this hard drive on 13 May 2021 to lighten my other hard drives, one of which I bought second hand (no regrets!).
Its price has dropped significantly in three and a half months, it was 369.95€ at the time of purchase, which is 130€ more than the current price.
If I had to do it again, I would have chosen the 10 TO which was only 30€ more, the 5 capacities are in the wrong order.
The average read/write speed is 252.6 MB/s (SATA3).
A perfect HDD in every respect. Quiet, fast, and high capacity. I'm just waiting to have it a few years to say more about the reliability
I bought this HDD on LDLC.com at the end of June in anticipation of a future NAS server. It's not cheap because its capacity is currently above the average capacity of the HDDs I bought, but if you want silence and speed, it's a good investment.
