Motherboard used in the installation of my new PC.
Nice motherboard with LED effects, which you can control with the Asus software supplied with it.
In terms of use, nothing to say, quick installation, everything is well explained in the manual, operation OK, difficult to judge the performance of a motherboard among all the other components but it seems OK, no faults to be found.
Complete hardware, received with a few extra stickers. Assembled with 2x16GB 3600MHz and a 5900X CPU. All running well for almost 3 years.
Very good motherboard! Versatile, powerful, stable, and complete with that... I have paired it with an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 4x 8GB G.Skill RipJaws 5 Series Black 16GB DDR4 4000 MHz CL18, 1 x M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 4x Kingston SSD A2000 of 1Tb, 1 Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 590 8GD5 graphics card, 5 HDDs for a total of 43Tb, I had an old LG BH16NS55 Blu Ray DVD burner, and everything powered by a 1000 Watts LDLC enclosure I installed all this in a Zalman Z11 Neo box 14 months ago and I'm very happy with it!
tedious installation, unclear documentation, installation drivers difficult to find, impossible to configure an M2 in AHCI (obligation to switch to raid mode...
pci blocking system difficult to unlock...
a card full of promise, but to be avoided ...

the pluses
- the packaging is of high quality (it's only cardboard, but it reinforces our ego in our purchase :-)
I try to keep my PCs for several years, there is what it takes not to be obsolete too quickly:
- 8 SATA connectors + 2 NVMe
- 2 RJ45 (1 in 2.5G)
- WIFI 6
- PCI 4
- a very complete bios (who said "too much"?)
- the customizable "reset" button to boot directly into the bios
the -
- to install the NVMe :
you have to remove the fan protection (PCH cover) to install them (rather small screw).
I have a doubt about the life span of the M.2 heatsink, especially when changing the module.
I'm not sure how long it will last, especially when changing the module.
- the "small" fan under the PCH
- The disks used in RAID are not visible/listed in the Boot nor in the SATA or HDD/SSD part of the Bios
- the price of course (but then we are never happy :-)
miscellaneous :
the RAID management changes my habits, to see the day when there will be a problem ...
My ethics :-) push me to specify that I leave this comment hoping to receive 25€ in exchange for this review from Asus
Everything works perfectly, but the assembly is not easy, especially for the radiator and its fan.
