Beyond my expectations
I wanted a MSI MEG X570 UNIFY because no RGB, and 3 ssd M.2 possible directly on the card.
G.Skill informed me that the compatibility was not tested with the G.Skill 4*32Gb RAM (Ripjaws V): I took a model certified compatible by G.Skill: this Aorus Master.
Received version 1.2: it is the last one available from Giga-Byte.
This motherboard has absolutely everything you need and the price is high, but consistent with the performance. Not like the crazy prices of "Godlike" and others.
The + according to my needs :
. 3 M.2 SSD slots, like the MSI UNIFY: This is quite rare
. compatibility with the most powerful RAM
. very discreet basic RGB; it's just on the top left side of the CPU, and not intrusive at all (and can be turned off via Giga-Byte's RGB Fusion 2.0 software)
. clear locations, with code display. Etc (no need to repeat the commercial description which is accurate...)
. neat design
. . 2 x 2.5gb LAN outputs, handy for wiring up your computer
The (slight) - :
. The wifi antenna is a fin at the end of its wire, to be placed on top of the case: I would have liked an option with antennas directly screwed and not wired. but well, it is a personal impression that does not take anything away from the quality of the whole.
The second SSD slot will be placed UNDER the GPU (for me, an Asus 6900XT, a big block). The motherboard does have an integrated heat sink which is flat, but if you put an SSD which has its own integrated heat sink, e.g. a Corsair MP600, you won't be able to use the 2nd slot: no space at the top!
The M.2 1 and 3 slots are clear.
However, if you take an SSD without a heatsink, you can then put the flat heatsink of this Aorus Master on top. But there will be just a few mm of airflow between the SSD and the GPU: be sure to provide ventilation in the axis.
