    Happy, product conforms.

The disk is not too noisy, and works properly. Why is there a minimum number of characters to enter for my comment to be valid?

Low cost hard drive to consider

I bought this hard drive to replace my backup hard drive which had temperature peaks of over 100°C.
I am under GNU/Linux so, with Gparted, I created a GPT partition table and an Ext4 partition.
I got the following message when creating the partition:
64-bit system support is not enabled.
    I resolved this by doing a sudo mkfs.ext4 -F -O 64bit /dev/sdc1.
Once this was done, I did some file copy tests and checked the checksums of the source files with those of the files copied to this hard drive and they matched so all is well.
It offers a write speed of 200 Mio/s which is quite honourable.
Its temperature is 38°C at rest in a medium tower case that is not really optimised for heat dissipation.
    A small downside though:
The hard disk is in a box barely bigger than the disk, what I don't understand is why this box is put in an A4 size box without any paper-cardboard to prevent it from moving around during transport?
I was told by email to check the box before accepting it, I would like to, but how do I do that since it was dropped in my mailbox?
I was pleasantly surprised by the speed of delivery. It was shipped on Friday at 3:52 pm and I received it on Saturday at 10:18 am, so it was very fast for a Colissimo, because the delivery time is usually two days.
I am not disappointed with my purchase and I recommend it.

    Do the job but noisily

I bought two of these 3TB disks, mounted in RAID1 they replace my old 1TB Seagate ST1000DM003 disks.

The RAID upgrade went well, like clockwork, but they are so noisy, my old drives were much quieter, I forgot they even existed.

    I take it back

I had ordered two in 2018 to replace a failed drive and have a backup drive in a redundant array. After the other two drives in the array committed suicide (they parked the head several times a minute), I saw that the ones in this model worked very well, I ordered another one to replace the dead drive and I plan to order another one later to have a backup drive.
