A fairly discreet-looking case, ideal for an external hard drive. A simple but effective product.
... for a very long time!
I installed an SSD (Crucial 500GB) and connected it to my PC (Windows 10), and was able to save files on it.
When I plugged it back in the next day, I couldn't access it, although it appeared in the list of drives.
The "Disk Management" command (or others) caused the PC to freeze and I had to reboot.
The same SSD, in a different enclosure, was recognized without problems.
Another SSD in this case was also inaccessible: it is the case that mer e!
DO NOT!!!
User of this external box since 2019 I took one of this model because I am satisfied with its use. Good transfer speeds in usb 3.
Easy to live with, no tools required to remove and reassemble a drive, the cover slides off.
The case runs on Windows 7 and 10 as well as Linux.
The pluses:
- Micro-USB3 connector, seems more reliable than other models with mini-USB3 (less false contacts in case of movement).
- Screwless mechanism for opening the case and assembly.
Minus :
- A BIG (!) blue LED indicator that lights up the whole room to the delight of your retinas (I covered it with tape to tone it down a bit)
- The piece of foam to stick on the hard drive (cushions shocks, but limits the possibilities of disassembly and reassembly).
- Does not allow access to SMART data on the disk reliability under Linux (JMicron chip not recognised by smartctl 6.6) but OK under Windows with Speccy.
Corresponds to my needs. Easy to use.
No problems. Good design.
Comes with cable.
Thanks LDLC!
