Stylish and powerful

The TS-128A features a quad-core Realtek RTD1295 1.4GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 1GbE network port to deliver performance up to 112MB/s. If you decide to encrypt your files with AES-256 encryption, performance is still impressive at 112MB/s - allowing you to ensure your privacy without sacrificing performance.

Test environment:
NAS:
QTS 4.3.4
Volume type: single; 1 x Seagate ST1000NM0033-9ZM173 1 TB hard drive

Client PCs:
Intel Core i7-4790 3.60 GHz processor; DDR3 1600 Hz 16 GB; Seagate 500 GB ST500DM002; Intel Gigabit CT (MTU 1500); Windows 10 64-bit

Lightweight and simple installation

The TS-128A's minimal and simplified design allows it to easily fit into your home. Thanks to its unique tool-less design, the TS-128A is so easy to install that no screwdriver is required!

One NAS for cross-platform file access and sharing on multiple devices

The TS-128A acts as a file exchange platform to simplify the management of your files between your devices. In addition, it is compatible with a wide range of computers and devices (including Windows, macOS and more). For mobile devices, the Qsync suite can be installed to synchronise and share files between PCs, phones and tablets.

Backing up data is as easy as 1-2-3

By practicing safe computing habits and with the TS-128A managing your file backup tasks, you can have peace of mind knowing that your data is protected. QNAP's Netback Replicator backup utility can help you backup/restore files on a Windows PC while macOS users can set up Time Machine to backup to the TS-128A.

High-end snapshot protection for files and data

QNAP has extended support for snapshot file protection to its entry-level NAS. Originally, snapshots were only possible on high-end business systems, and they allow you torecord the system status and data contents at a single point in time. With snapshot protection, if you accidentally delete/edit files, or if one of your hard drives fails or your network is infected with malware, you can quickly restore the files to a previous date.

Back up your files with the versatile Hybrid Backup Sync

With the TS-128A, say goodbye to complicated backup settings. Now you can use Hybrid Backup Sync as your one-stop portal for backup, restore, and sync files. Supporting local NAS, remote NAS, and cloud storage as both origins and destinations, you can combine multiple backup jobs to provide optimal protection for your data. Other features include scheduling, versioning, data compression and multi-layer encryption, so your files stay safe.

360 degree panorama photo/video

Good news for the adventurous! QNAP NAS now supports 360 degree panorama recording format! By clicking the 360 degree panorama display button, your photos and videos will be displayed as 360 degree panorama media files.

All your download needs are covered

With the energy-efficient and quiet TS-128A, you don't need to use different download utilities or leave your computer on all the time. Use Download Station to search for downloads and manage your download tasks.

Everything you need for a perfect multimedia experience

The all-new QVHelper can help you stream and decode media files to media players on your computer and/or mobile devices. The Qfinder Pro utility can also save time and system resources of the NAS by locally transcoding media files on your PC before transferring them to the NAS. With the TS-128A, your AV experience is smoother and more convenient with useful apps and everything you need to enjoy great multimedia entertainment.

Serious Security Features

The TS-128A is rich in comprehensive security features such as 2-step authentication, encrypted access, IP filtering/blocking, and antivirus. In addition, you can use user and folder permissions to block unwanted access from unauthorized users or apps.

Energy efficient and quiet

The TS-128A requires only 7.06W, providing powerful functionality without a high power bill. Other smart power saving modes help minimize power usage, and with a quiet cooling fan, the noise and heat generated by the TS-128A is minimized.

    Excellent value for money (117.56)

Very easy to install hard drive, small case so discreet. Numerous utilities and very quick to learn. It's a great product for a family. I'm sure it will be a great product to have.

    Good value for money

Perfect for home use, much faster than my old syno dj115. Relatively simple setup, listening to music stored on the server from the car in 4G is latency free and seamless, this was the original intended use.

So far, so good (1.5 months of use)

I was a bit worried about the previous reviews which suggested that the power supply was a recurring problem, but following Qnap's reply that they have taken the necessary measures to avoid future inconveniences I decided to give it a go. So far everything is working, the power supply is not making any noise, fingers crossed.

The NAS itself is fully satisfied. It is necessary to take the time to configure everything at the beginning and to dive a little into it but the tutorials on the site of Qnap are rather clear (it is necessary nevertheless to have notions of partitioning of disc to understand well what one makes).

I have never had a problem accessing it either locally or from the internet, no untimely disconnections at all after a month and a half of use. The mobile apps do their job well, even if we regret that in the photo app for example, we can't sort them as we want (date of shooting, date of import, weight, location, etc)

I've made different folders and that gets around the problem, but it's a shame when you see what Google photos can do (after all, the security of our data has its limitations too)

I've never had to restart the NAS for the moment, except once for it to do an update, so it's really perfect! It's the best value for money.

Out of order after less than 6 months!

Out of order after less than 6 months!

The power supply seems to be putting out way more voltage than it should. And, it makes a very slight sizzling noise... even when unplugged.

The NAS won't boot up... even with another (working) power supply. It's a "brick" now.

Is the power supply the culprit?

    Too bad... I liked it.

Excellent throughput, alim to be reviewed

Excellent speeds (much better than my old Synology) and intuitive interface and very quiet.

I had it for 4 months without any problems (used daily by the family for photos/videos/etc.) and then this morning it doesn't turn on even though it is very well ventilated, clean and behind an inverter.

I'm waiting for a new power supply but it seems to be a common problem on this product line. (I'm waiting for the after sales service, this one will surely want the hard drive and I would like to keep the data on it)
