StarTech.com 's PEXUSB3S44V controller card allows you to add four dedicated 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 ports to your PCI-E x4 compatible PC. The independent port architecture enhances USB 3.0 performance by transferring data to your computer over four independent lanes, giving you faster transfer speeds. By using four host controller chipsets, each port functions as an independent transmission path. Allocating 5 Gb/s per USB port reduces slowdowns and quadruples the total available to you, giving you bandwidth of up to 20 Gb/s.
Enhanced with UASP, this USB 3.0 controller is 70% faster than a conventional USB 3.0 port when paired with an enclosure that supports UASP. Using a more efficient protocol than the traditional USB BOT, UASP optimises transfer by allowing multiple commands to be processed simultaneously, significantly increasing transfer speeds.
Up and running in no time
This USB 3.0 PCI-E card includes an optional SATA or LP4 power connector for connection to your system's power supply to provide up to 900 mA per port for USB 3.0 bus-powered peripherals. The USB 3.0 card also supports USB battery charging specification 1.2 (Apple mode only), allowing you to charge Apple devices (iPhone and iPad) faster than a standard USB 3.0 port.
The controller card complies with USB 3.0 standards while being backwards compatible with existing USB 2.0/1.1 devices. For added versatility, the USB 3.0 PCI-E card features a standard height bracket and includes a low-profile/half-height bracket for compact computers.
