in-store ordering and delivery
I gave this rating because the product arrived fairly quickly and it's a good product. I placed my order over the internet and it was delivered to the shop.

Hello,
I received my 1TB HDD quickly, installed it without any problems.
Fully satisfied.
I am very pleased with it.
Chosen for its robust reputation but time will tell.
For the time being it remains a noisy record like the others.
Replacing a 250GB Wd which after more than 10 years of service decided it was time to start with the Smart mistakes.
Used in storage
Path of exile installed on it still lags a lot, but it's playable again.
It used to be a slide show between a dated config and a disk that was claiming its retirement.
The 7200Tpm is good, but the latency between 12 and 13Ms for a current platter disk techno is no longer a dream.
To be dedicated to storage or data that requires a reasonable transfer rate. Very quiet and does not heat up 30°C max in an open tower.
Hd movies are ok, recent games not so much.
Does the job but it's still a mechanical hard drive
I have been a long time loyal customer of Western Digital, and this purchase, made as part of an emergency repair, has given me complete satisfaction. As soon as I received it, the hard disk was tested with the "Hard Disk sentinel 5.4 pro" software, no bad surprises, the announced performances are there. The "Black" series from WD guarantees good performances, but they also have to be paid for: nothing is free!...
All that remains is to graft it onto the sick machine, but that's another story.
Be careful though, this product is OEM, it will only suit people who already have some experience of working on the insides of a machine.
I already had an external WD for many years + 10 years. I bought one to replace my out of order internal hard drive.
Delivery on time, well packed. The only problem was that I had to keep this drive to store: docs, images, downloads... because my new 1TB drive was not recognised - motherboard too old I was told, old 500 meg drive. Windows is installed on a small Seagate SSD that I got back and everything is fine.
I installed it a little over a fortnight ago and the speed is good for an HDD. I'll have to wait and see, but it seems that WD has put a lot of faith in the reliability and long term performance of this drive and that's all I wanted. It has already inspired enough confidence in me to order a new one for friends
The disc is due to be delivered today, it will be my second Caviar Black to replace a 500 G0 Caviar Green which is too full and especially slower than the blacks.
Ldlc services are always so efficient
it's been installed since september and everything works without problem, coupled with a samsung ssd 850 evo 250 gb everything works, extremely quiet, I'm going to take a second one soon, so I recommend it
I ordered this hard drive two years ago. And it still works great, the read/write speed may not be up to par with an SSD but it totally does the job. I've filled one up and will probably recommend one to pair with my SSD and this one itself. What more can I say. Not too much noise, normal power consumption, good write/read speed, a good HDD from WD.
To replace a hard drive for my 8 year old identical model system which is out of order.
I am still satisfied with this brand and series (WD BLACK)
Very fast even with the years of wear.
I've been using it in my Coolermaster CM Stacker STC-T01 tower
No problems yet with this HDD, works from the first time you turn it on.
The only drawback is that it cost one star: no cable, no screws.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to get a cable or not, but I'm sure it's a good idea to get a cable.)
I bought this product to put in my Synology NAS. The choice of the hard drive is very important to be able to keep the data as long as possible and without performance problems.
My NAS is used to record live video surveillance (when motion is detected). So I need a reliable hard drive that can handle multiple video streams. For the moment the hard drive is perfectly suited to my use (2 video streams)
... super fast to put all my docs, videos, photos and work. Nothing to say about the installation, it just worked :)
Thanks to LDLC for the fast shipping and the perfect box.
After 1 year and a half of use (multimedia, game, office automation) I decided to test the speed of the disk since I noticed slowdowns.
I don't know where the slowdowns come from but I was very surprised by the tests:
In sequential read and write we were around 130Mb/s, far from the 180 announced.
The drive is facing two input fans so no overheating. And yet it seems to be getting worse and worse.
I've been using it for a while now, but I'm not sure how long it will last, so I'm going to have to wait and see.
I bought it for the games but I don't play these days.
Very good hard drive, already bought on this site 5 years ago
Very quiet.
Does not heat up.
Very good speed tests:
Read test (Q= 32,T= 1): 164.473 MB/s
Write test (Q= 32,T= 1): 154.828 MB/s
Processor: core i7 4790K
Motherboard: Asus H97 ME
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1(x64)
And received very fast as usual with LDLC
I have a smaller one (500GB) that has been running for over 50,000 hours for almost 6 years and is still going strong.
Replacing an identical 7 year old model which is out of order.
The disc works... for the moment, despite a perforated cardboard (10*5 hole) and crushed in a corner.
Bubble wrap around the disc on several layers but not at the ends.
In short, worrying... a first since I've been a customer
I bought this disc for its reliability which is supposedly better but for the moment it remains to be proven since it is new! I hope I won't be disappointed.
Replacement of my system disk, of the same brand and series (Black) which presented some defective sectors after 6 years of operation (12h/24 on average), which is compatible with the MTBF announced by Western Digital.
For information, I use 4 disks of the same brand and series for my data in a zraid bunch which has been working for 4 years in the same conditions without any announced error.
I remain faithful to Western Digital until further notice!
Bought to replace a Seagate barracuda 1tb hard drive that didn't last more than a month. I am really happy with this hard drive, quiet and fast. I recommend it!
Replacing a Samsung 500GB hard drive that was silent but reaching the end of its life, it was starting to scratch. I'm a bit disappointed with the noise of this drive, I can only hear it when it spins.
Other than that, it's quick to access and does the job it's designed for.
I had a little fear concerning the noise as some may say... But for my part, this disk is very discreet and the accesses are really there!
Now it remains to be seen in time...
I already have a 500GB Caviar Black system and a 500GB RE4 game storage, plus two other basic WD storage drives, which have 16,000+ hours (approx. 3100 power-ups) and show no signs of fatigue after years of use.
After initializing the hard drive with Windows 7, I have about 931Gb available. The drive supports SATA/300 and SATA/600, but is recognized on my CM Z77 as Sata/300.
Crystal Disk Mark 5.1.2 gives me 189.379 MB/s sequential read and 184.831 MB/s sequential write which is much faster than my WD RE4.
This is a good HDD that lasts for a long time and is guaranteed for many years by WD.
I'm very pleased with the HDD, and I'm very happy with the way it's been packed. Fast delivery. Product purchased on LDLC on 27/09/2016.
I've been using it for photo work, in addition to 2DD and 2SDD, it's fast, quiet, does the job for a reasonable price, for me it's enough to see its reliability over time.
Excellent component.
7200 rpm I like.
It goes very well with my configuration ordered on 27 May 2016 (i7 6700k 4ghz, GeForce gtx 1080 Founders edition, Asus Z170 pro gaming motherboard and my 16Gb of RAM).
I recommend it!
Installed in a Mac Pro 2008 and coupled in Fusion Drive with a Sandisk Pro 240gb SSD, it's just great.
The drive is very responsive and very quiet for a 7200T. It is expensive, but the 5 years warranty pushed me to buy it.
It's a great way to give a new lease of life to this old Mac Pro.
After a series of 3 DDR WE 320GB IDE interface not worth a rabbit's foot and facing the end of their manufacture. I had to change the interface and switch to SATA. Having difficulty returning to Western Digital, if I chose this model it is only because it is guaranteed 5 years. For the moment this one, although not the quietest, gives me satisfaction. It remains to be seen how long it will last?
I'm very pleased with the quality of the product.
Great hard drive op for gamers
I'm a fan of the black hard drive for video games, but there's nothing to say about it except that it does its job perfectly and especially the 1TB to put all my games on! The only complaint is that there is no SATA cable supplied with it.
I was very pleased with the product, it seems to be suitable for gaming use and I had no compatibility issues. I would have appreciated it if my order had arrived a little quicker (1.5 working days for preparation + delivery time) but I admit I am demanding.
Based on the previous reviews and my personal experience with WD, my choice to purchase from LDLC is based on the excellent service and speed of delivery they have provided on previous orders
I always buy hard drives from Western Digital, and this time I chose a black hard drive from Western Digital.
Indeed, I needed a powerful hard drive to run a virtualization server (XenServer).
The installation was quick and my Windows 7 x64 virtual machine was smooth.
So, very good performance, despite the fact that I did not use RAID with this hard drive.
Note: for RAID, prefer Western Digital red hard drives.
Very fast read and write for a mechanical drive, used at home as a Windows system drive with game applications on it taking up a considerable amount of space.
Not as fast as an SSD but good capacity, reliability, price / speed ratio.
Very good hard drive nothing more to add does its job as a main drive fast and reliable I think, after that I will see with time but for now I don`t see any defect.ldlc very fast delivery as dabe
-good drive for those who can do everything with speed (including a system drive, but obviously slower than an SSD)
I recommend it if you have the possibility to have an SSD next to it to put it in secondary, which would be perfect :)
-good drive for those who can do everything with speed (including a system drive, but obviously slower than an SSD). Speeds tested with Crystaldiskmark are 180/180MB/s (read/write, drive is 6% full)... for info my WD Blue 1TB 7200t/m from two years ago is 152/135MB/s (57% full)... Here it is, it makes a little tinkling noise barely audible.
