Positive overall
I picked up this laptop to replace my old Macbook Pro (13" from 2018).
The finish is fine, I got it in silver because I'd read elsewhere that the black version was good at marking fingerprints.
As for the screen, which is reputed to be good but very shiny and therefore prone to unwanted reflections, no surprise there. For my part, the reflections don't bother me and are similar to my old Mac.
The keyboard typing is good, but the backlighting isn't great. I've deactivated it by default. The default colour is the Windows accent colour, which I found lacking in contrast. Once it's set to white, ditto, and you still can't see what you're typing! (one star for that)
Another thing that surprised me was the screen that turns off/on when you plug in or unplug the power supply. On closer inspection, this is due to the change in refresh rate that accompanies the switch from one energy profile to another.
It's also a shame that HDR mode isn't activated by default in Windows 11 when the laptop is plugged in. For an OLED HDR screen, that's a shame. What's more, there's no HDR mode when the power supply is unplugged (at least in Windows), the button is greyed out.
As far as Windows 11 is concerned, it's business as usual: when manufacturers realise that adding all their crapware to the mix won't help, we'll have bought ourselves some time. In the meantime, plan on taking some time to clean things up.
So there you have it, technically speaking there's nothing to complain about, the CPU is running smoothly, 32G of RAM is enough for my needs, and the same goes for storage.
I hesitated for a long time with the same Zenbook version, but its price for relative advantages (better finish/WiFi 7) and certain disadvantages (heating) made me prefer the Vivobook.
