The Pentax WG-1000 offers advantages that smartphones and many cameras don't: it can be used in very difficult and wet conditions. Many people know the situation where they need to concentrate fully on their sport, such as canoeing or climbing, but still want to capture those exciting moments in photographs. That's where the WG-1000 comes into its own.
Weatherproof, dustproof and waterproof
The Pentax WG-1000 is a reliable camera whatever the season. It is waterproof (JIS class 8) to a depth of 15 metres and can operate continuously for up to one hour; it is resistant to dust (JIS class 6), dirt and stains, and to shocks, even if dropped from a height of up to two metres. Thanks to this robust construction, the WG-1000 can be used for a wide range of activities, even in difficult and demanding conditions, and even for underwater filming. A special feature opens up other possible uses.
The O-CC180 protective case is supplied with the camera. It protects the body from scratches and ensures it always looks as good as new, even after tough adventures.The carabiner strap (O-ST180), also supplied, is very practical for outdoor activities: it allows you to hang the camera securely and easily, so you don't have to laboriously take it out of your bag.
For sharp, clear images
The Pentax WG-1000 features a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with approximately 16.35 effective megapixels and exceptional light-reception efficiency to deliver sharp, clear, high-resolution images.
The WG-1000 can record Full HD video (1920 x 1080 pixels, 16:9 format) using the H.264 codec at a rate of 30 frames per second.
4x optical zoom
In its compact, lightweight body, the Pentax WG-1000 features a 4x optical zoom lens with a focal length coverage of 4.9 mm to 19.6 mm (equivalent to approx. 27 mm to 108 mm in 35 mm format) to suit a wide range of applications. When combined with its digital zoom function, you can extend the zoom range by around 24 times.
Designed for use in medical environments
Because the Pentax WG-1000 can be safely sterilised with solutions containing ethanol, sodium hypochlorite (approved by Pentax) and water, it is ideal for use in medical environments.sodium hypochlorite (approved as a disinfectant for food additives) or chlorine dioxide, you can use it in medical facilities and production lines.
