The WG-8 is Pentax's new top-of-the-range rugged compact camera. It boasts a host of exciting features. In addition to a 1/2.3" backlit 20 MP CMOS sensor, its compact and equally lightweight body offers a special stability that can cope with almost any adventure, even dives to a depth of 20 metres. This camera also demonstrates its qualities for school, research and work. A special light ring combined with macro distance is capable of showing even the smallest things on a grand scale, and thanks to the webcam function, this can be shared in a small circle or with the whole world. In its compact, lightweight body, the WG-8 features a5x optical zoom lens with an angle of view of 5mm to 25mm (equivalent to around 28mm to 140mm in 35mm format), covering a wide range of applications. from wide-angle shots of panoramic landscapes to telephoto shots of distant subjects.
The Pentax WG-8's solid, hermetically sealed body is not only waterproof to a depth of 20 metres and waterproof for up to two hours underwater , it is also dustproof. It can also withstand shocks. It can withstand a fall from a height of 2 metres and resist being crushed by a weight of up to 100 kgf (force in kilograms). It can also withstand cold temperatures as low as -10°C. It's also shock-resistant and can withstand a fall from 2.1 metres. It's also dustproof (equivalent to IP6X or JIS class 6). It can withstand freezing temperatures as low as -10°C. Combined with a high-performance imaging engine, this sensor offers a maximum sensitivity of ISO 6400 and very high-resolution images. The WG-8 can record video in 4K resolution (at 3,840 x 2,160 pixels). In addition to conventional Movie SR (Shake Reduction) mode, it also offers Movie SR+ mode in HD and Full HD. It also offers video recording modes to ensure natural, impeccable video clips, with no camera shake or distortion.
Positioned around the circumference of the lens barrel, the WG-8 'ssix-LED ring light unit not only allows you to control the light intensity over a wide range, it also gives you the option of adjusting the brightness of the lens barrel.light intensity in nine levels, but also allows you to select the desired set of lights. You can switch on all the LEDs to illuminate the entire scene brightly and evenly to eliminate shadows. The Ring Light unit is handy for applications that require delicate lighting control, such as macro shooting.
Get closer to the action with the optical zoom and GPS module
The WG-8 features a high-performance 5x optical zoom that covers a focal length of 5 mm to 25 mm (equivalent to approx. 28 mm to 140 mm in 35 mm format). It can adapt to a wide range of scenes and subjects, including vast landscapes.
The WG-8's built-in GPS module receives signals from GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System), as well as from ordinary GPS satellites, and automatically records position and trip log data on captured images. Since you can synchronise captured images with their position data on a map or display trip log data on a map, you'll have even more fun during the post-shooting stages.

Do you like diving? The WG-8 follows you underwater and lets you take advantage of its underwater shooting mode, specially designed for underwater photography. For successful group photos, the WG-8 can detect up to 30 faces.
By simply switching the WG-8 to UVC (USB Video Class) mode and connecting it to a computer with a USB cable (included as a standard accessory), it can be used as a webcam for real-time streaming of complete videos. HD resolution video images at 30 frames per second. By combining its macro shooting capability with the built-in Ring Light unit, you can provide finely detailed images during online business meetings or private online communications.
