Exactly what I wanted
The interface is simpler than on a smartphone, but it's perfectly usable and in French.
The basic Apps (web browser, Google Play, music, etc) are already installed and I was able to connect to my Google account and install my favourite Apps quickly, using wifi.
I didn't create a Boox account, nor did I try out their integrated Apps for reading e-books, as I prefer to use my usual Apps.
After 2 weeks of use I'm delighted with this purchase and will be giving away my previous e-reader.
The Palma is lighter. I love the mobile screen format, reading is easier as the line is shorter.
Tested with the following Apps: Kindle, Librera, Royal Road, Le Canard, BeloteAndr and ClassicWords+.
I tested a video clip on YouTube just now. In this example, the image was a little too dark for my liking, but I was amazed at how smooth it was. Well, I'd rather use my mobile for that or video games anyway, I was just curious.
The only slight downside at the moment is that I have to switch to manual brightness if I'm reading against the light.
Example: the e-reader is between my eyes and the window when the sun is shining brightly. Automatic brightness doesn't take into account the sun behind the reader and in this case you just have to turn up the brightness to read without forcing it. If the screen was perpendicular or facing the sun, the automatic mode would have sufficed. It's also handy at night when you're going from a dark room to a bright one, like a toilet :)
