A small, space-saving e-reader with an excellent memory, it's easy to use and very practical for reading in any situation.
Reading is pleasant. The connection to my PC and to Calibre is seamless, and the browser can also be used to download documents.
Plus points: The buttons and areas of the screen can be (partially) customised, making it really easy to use and read. The e-reader contains a large number of dictionaries, and additional ones can be added.
Minus: The browser is very slow to launch and navigating a web page is complicated (only with the buttons).
(I haven't yet tested note-taking and transferring).
(PS: the vivlio protection (purchased separately) is solid and effective; mine now has a nice hole in it, but my e-reader is fine).
As I already own a Bookeen Notéa, which is very comfortable, and a Kobo H2O (solid), I was looking for an easy to carry and light reading device.
The Touch Lux is perfect for this purpose.
The pluses :
- navigation keys
- the backlighting is very comfortable compared to other brands
- the micro SD port (no need to save money)
- small and useful apps: a calculator (scientific), a gallery (with the possibility to choose a wallpaper for the standby), annotations on the grouped books, games (sudoku, chess, solitaire...)
- adding books via a computer does not require a later synchronisation, the titles appear directly in the tree structure.
- the super +++ : finally a FOLDER NAVIGATION ! This allows you to store a considerable number of ebooks, to classify them and to find them easily, without necessarily going through the "library", where the titles are in bulk.
The minuses (if you look hard enough):
- Invitations to create a Vivlio account and to synchronize regularly.
This is an entry-level device, so you can't expect miracles from it. But it does its job well. The backlighting is interesting, and reading is easy in all lighting conditions. But beware, however, of the format. I advise future buyers to carefully consider the dimensions of the product, as they appear on its sheet. The device is small, which can be both an advantage (you can easily slip it into your pocket) and a disadvantage. If you have good eyesight, it's fine. For the others, it is better to abstain. Moreover, as the space is relatively small, when you touch it, you have to be careful where you put your finger, otherwise you may be surprised.
Another point is that the device comes with a pack of e-books that I don't find interesting. No author is known, and you don't know what they are about. All these titles just clutter up the library, and to get rid of them you have to download them first before deleting them. Not easy!
Does what you expect it to do.
The screen is pleasant even in the dark.
The Vivlio library is very extensive.
I take one star off for the display of the diagrams and illustrations which does not allow zooming in/out and the fact that the cover is not included.
