Extremely quiet
I was hesitating between an rtx 4070 and an rx 7800 xt. One for ray tracing and the other for vram and raster perf.
Finally I turned to the rtx 4070 to get a taste of ray tracing and full ray tracing / path tracing knowing that I have a 1080p screen and that I think / hope that the 12gb will not be limiting in the next 4 years.
I'm not disappointed with the performance, cp 2077 in high quality + path tracing / ray reconstruction runs at 60fps in 1080p + dlss quality with a core i5 11400f and 32gb ddr4. Add dlss3 and you're up to 100/110fps.
I used the dldsr to go to 1620p and activated the dlss balance and I'm running at around 40/45fps, with much better image quality.
With dlss 3 on top, I'm up to 70fps. Clearly it's not as fluid as true 70fps, it's more like a glorified 40fps, but it's still pleasant because I don't notice any visual/glitch problems with the dlss3.
The card itself doesn't heat up in my case (3 fans at the front + 1 at the top). It very rarely exceeds 65 degrees. And consumes less than 200w on average.
But above all, the silence!
I realised how quiet it was when I was surprised to hear no noise when I ran cp 2077 in path tracing, no noise at all.
Even with the coil whine, I hear absolutely nothing (I had an rtx 3060 ti at one time which had coil whine above 60fps, here absolutely nothing).
The PC fans, which are rather quiet (artic p12 max) are noisier than the gpu.
I was looking for a silent card that didn't heat up, and clearly I've found the right gpu. 200w maximum and totally silent.
