The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter Bidirectional SDI to HDMI 3G is the smallest broadcast-quality bidirectional converter available. Simultaneously convert SDI to HDMI and HDMI to SDI signals, even in different formats. Because it supports camera control protocol conversion, you can use Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras with professional SDI live production mixers.
Precision miniature converter
Unlike other small SDI converters, Blackmagic Micro Converters incorporate state-of-the-artbroadcast technology in an extremely robust miniature metal housing . Each converter features industry-standard 3G-SDI and HDMI connections with high-quality connectors, and because the converter is USB-powered, you can even connect it to a TV or laptop for power.
Unlike low-cost converters, Blackmagic Micro Converters include high-qualitysignal processing and a video pipeline with significant bit depth. The Micro Converters have been designed with precision electronics to provide a very stable SDI signal, allowing SDI cables to be extended over long distances.Blackmagic Micro Converters support 8- and 10-bit video formats, RGB or YUV, and all SD and HD formats up to 1080p60, and even support 1080p24, 1080p47.95 and 1080p48 cinema frame rates. Plus, you getbuilt-in audio and timecode support.
Monitoring with 3D LUTs
The Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 3G even includes a 3D LUT for accurate colour monitoring. This allows you to apply custom renders, and change colours and gamma in real time for on-set monitoring. LUTs can also be applied to the 3G-SDI output in a loopback fashion so that the converter acts as a 3D LUT processor. You can also use the 3D LUTs to get a calibrated calibration monitor from an inexpensive computer or TV monitor.
The Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G even supports camera control allowing a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera to be used with an ATEM SDI mixer. ATEM mixers transmit camera control via SDI, and the converter can convert it to HDMI for the camera.
HDMI timecode support and SDI synchronisation
Because the new 3G Micro Converters use a new custom-designed Blackmagic Design hardware, they are more advanced and better support the technical features essential to high-end broadcast workflows. For example, theysupport HDMI and SDI time code conversion. You also get timecode support in SD and HD video formats.
Blackmagic Micro Converters can synchronise SDI signals to the 3G-SDI output. This synchronization restores the SDI video signal, reduces its jitter, and improves the eye pattern before the converter sends the signal to other equipment. This means you can use very long cables, even with degraded SDI signals. Thanks to the advanced design of the Blackmagic Micro Converters, there are no restrictions. Blackmagic Micro Converters are also fully compliant with broadcast standards, SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 296M, SMPTE 424M, SMPTE 425M Level A and B.
