a great card!
The RTX 3080 Aorus Xtreme is the card of all superlatives, too beautiful, too powerful, too long, too thick, too energy consuming, too well ventilated, too expensive and yet too top!
Obviously at this price we expected nothing less and I see that it has gained another 200€ since I bought it this summer ..... and that it is no longer available either ... damn shortage ....
on a more pragmatic note: almost all of my games saturate my 2K screen at a constant 144fps.
Temperature wise on Overwatch (which doesn't require a 3080 to run) the super heatsink reduces the operating temperature by -20°C compared to the 1080 of the same name!
So yes, it heats up, but it also dissipates, hence the following precautions to avoid unpleasant surprises:
- Have a suitable power supply (700 - 800W to be safe)
- Check the available dimensions for the installation of the card (length 320 mm (+30mm) and 3 slots thick which can be blocking in case of interference with the hard disk bays, even if modular)
- Have a well ventilated tower and an efficient processor ventirad (heat rises)
Noise level compared to the 1080 of the same name, the 3080 is more audible I would say more "presence" than nuisance (it's not a dyson either).
Not having installed the Aorus management software I had no problems with the installation.
By the way, the mini LCD screen is hidden by the fall of the 3 12V power cables .... with a closed tower it is without impact.
Knowing that in general, in use, we look more at the screen than the inside of his tower ...
