Good keyboard but two big flaws
Let's start with the positives:
The keyboard and wrist rest are very pleasant to use. Typing is extremely quiet (more so than my old K-800) and the hollow in the centre of the keys makes it easier to position the fingers. The keyboard is programmable with a very easy to use utility. The function keys are generally satisfactory, although I have a slight preference for the layout of the K-800. There are no problems with responsiveness or ghosting, except after a pause where there is a slight hiccup of a few milliseconds, but this is not too annoying.
Let's move on to the negative points:
A "media" key to the right of F12 means that the function keys (F1 to F12) do not have the standard alignment, which is extremely unpleasant for a programmer used to using these keys regularly.
The glyphs, which are a mixture of Apple and Windows, are very difficult to read. This is annoying when looking for rarely used combinatorial symbols. I regularly try several keys before finding the right one.
The backlight simply doesn't work. I'm waiting for a firmware update which doesn't seem to be coming, even though Logitech is aware of the problem (see their technical support and the numerous user complaints). When the keyboard is plugged in, the backlight is off until a key is pressed: it does not detect the approach of the hands. When not plugged in, it flashes on/off continuously for 10-15 seconds, which is extremely distracting and drains its battery in days instead of months.
