So I tell him it's the speed of the interface, not the memory chip.
I'd seen some screenshots of crystal disk mark with 80Mb/sec.
But it's barely slow -- 13MB/sec -- on a big 20GB file... 3 different USB ports tested (including one 3.2).
Transfer from an NVne SSD...
