Overview

Unlock the full potential of your games

Both fast and capable of displaying breathtaking images based on its 144Hz 27" IPS panel, the BenQ EX2780Q monitor gives you the keys to get the most out of all your favourite games. Enjoy dazzling visuals with 95% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and HDR, keep the picture smooth at all times with FreeSync technology but keep your eyes free from blue light and flicker with BenQ Eye-Care technology. This gaming-oriented monitor is also very versatile, with an included remote control, 2.1 audio system and full connectivity with HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C.

A sublime display

At a time when today's technologies are making it possible to create games with more realistic graphics than ever before, the BenQ EX2780Q monitor gives you the chance to bring out images as faithfully as they were intended by the creators. The secret weapon? A 27-inch IPS panel in QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) covering 95% of the professional DCI-P3 gamut, boosted by HDR technology (VESA DisplayHDR 400 standard) capable of bringing out better contrasts and more intense colours on compatible content.

With its elegant design, the EX2780Q offers a borderless panel on 3 sides in order to maximise immersion and offer more homogeneous multi-screen configuration possibilities.

Get up to speed

In competitive games, however, it's not the graphics that will save the day, but your speed and responsiveness! Fortunately, BenQ has not forgotten about this aspect of gaming, so you have a 144 Hz refresh rate with a 5 m response time. This way, you can move around more naturally without feeling lag or jerkiness.

And to keep you ahead of the game, FreeSync technology (compatible with AMD graphics cards) synchronises the refresh rate of your graphics card with that of the monitor, resulting in the elimination of screen tearing and most frame rate drops.

Good for the game, good for your eyes

It's not uncommon for games to go on and the gaming session to go on late! Blue light emissions and flicker from monitors can cause eye strain and lead to eye strain which can be very damaging. BenQ has certified this display to TÜV Rheinland, which ensures that Flicker-Free and Low Blue Light technologies are truly effective in reducing the harmful effects of both.

In addition, the Brightness Intelligence Plus system automatically detects the ambient light level and then adapts the screen's light level optimally.

Swiss Army Knife

With its rich connectivity (HDMI, DisplayPort and even USB-C), this monitor can be adapted to a multitude of configurations or even used on a console. Using the included remote control, control different aspects of the monitor from your sofa or resort to the built-in 2.1 speaker set to view movies without the need to connect external speakers.

    Quality/price

Very nice screen, ergonomic, the remote control is a plus!
Very nice sound when it is well adjusted.
The 1440P with 144Hz is just great !
    I recommend it !

    Update of my previous opinion

After 4 months of use, a bad surprise. The left backlighting failed. This confirmed the impression of a "suffering slab" that was sometimes present (despite normal use).

Good point: the BenQ after-sales service was very good. I sent a return request on Monday, specifying that I was working from home (long live covid). New screen received on Thursday (a refurbished model). I couldn't have asked for anything more efficient.

The new model received has the same problems as the first one (see my previous review for details).
Hopefully it won't break down in a few months too...

    superb screen

A very nice (and large) screen, received without dead pixels. No ghosting problems found. The numerous settings make it a good screen for games and a little bit for amateur retouching.
It holds 144Hz with a good graphics card, it is freesync => it is perfect
The plus is the presence of stereo speakers which certainly won't sound good in a flat but are very efficient and pleasant (sound quality & bass/treble) for listening to music while working. I also appreciate the integrated power supply (no box lying around on the floor, like other screens).
The detail which is not useful and which makes it indispensable: the remote control!

    Some details to be improved

    Received about 10 days ago.
For gaming, web, multimedia and programming use.

Quality of manufacture and image rendering: nothing to complain about.
The screen is well made, the image is bright and the colours are vivid.
As a bonus, the remote control is nice, the intelligent HDR still gives the picture a boost (even on SD content) and the speakers are really good. The speakers are still not as good as desktop 2.1s but are quite usable (unlike the built-in speakers on my AOC equivalent).
    The negative:
    - The panel clearly drifts towards yellow and doesn't look very uniform vertically. (I haven't done a probe test, but I've added a lot of blue in the settings to get a white that looks white)
    - The colours are absolutely not correct out of the box. The image is very bright and flattering to the eye. For multimedia use, this is a plus. For a content creation use, it's not so good. A calibration probe is mandatory in this case.
    - The stand: what was BenQ thinking when they proposed such a stand? The screen is barely 10 centimetres from the desk. There's no way anyone could use it at that height without getting a twinge. Something to raise it up is a must.
    - A very slight flicker of brightness is sometimes visible. I have not identified the cause. I hope it is not a weakness somewhere.
    - Motion blur is still present despite the 144Hz.
    - The FreeSync appears well in the nVidia settings but no info in the OSD.

    Top colour, sound, connectivity, responsiveness

This screen is really what I was looking for. Its connectivity is very complete (2 hdmi, a displayport and a usb-c) and above all everything works at 144hz, which is far from being the case for other screens (often limited to 60hz except displayport...)
The remote control is a real plus!
The inputs switch automatically, which is also very practical for connecting several PCs, Macs or consoles.
The ergonomics of the OSD is perfect. In addition, the sound is really amazing for a screen, it can replace standard 2.0 speakers without any problems.
Finally the screen is of very good quality: very faithful colours even in the factory setting, no IPS glow, no dead pixels and very good responsiveness in games.
