Works well for now; quiet (no fan); used with Daphile as a music server
The purpose of this purchase was to build a home-made NAS. It serves as a NAS head for a small USB storage bay. With 8GB of RAM and a 2.5" case to house 2 mSATA SSDs (RAID0 system), this little NUC with its Celeron J3455 is a little bomb. It is the second one in my infra. It allows me to synchronize my files/photos from the phones, to have access to them from any computer or phone (at home or from the internet), to concentrate the backups of all my equipment before going back to the cloud and to do multimedia broadcasting for the box/TV in the house. The whole thing works in the greatest silence because of its fanless design: a real pleasure :)
Intel NUC NUC6CAYH used to set up a small monitoring server under Ubuntu Server 20. Perfect.
Very decent machine, heats up a bit but nothing more. It will be perfect when I decide to add RAM.
Nice little pc, I had some problems with the RAM ordered with it.
Put together as a gift for a pensioner.
Windows 10 or linux required...
Pretty fast for basic functionality.
This is my third Intel NUC, 2 in the office and 1 in the living room. I equipped it with 2 X G.Skill RipJaws Series SO-DIMM 4Gb DDR3/DDR3L 1600 MHz CL11 and 1 SSD Crucial BX500 120Gb. I installed DEBIAN 10 in less than 30 minutes.
It is still faster than my first NUC which is already 4 years old, booting the system in 15 seconds and shutting down in the second, SSD and RAM capacity obliges, So I kept it for my office.
I've kept it for my office. For accessing the internet and watching streaming channels it's more than enough. I also appreciate the SD memory input, even if I don't use it often.
I only regret the jack on the front, the wire from my 2.1 audio set spoils the discreet and miniature side of the set, no big deal...
I recommend this product without limit.
Commissioned to build a small, quiet machine capable of meeting the office and internet surfing needs of a student.
Installed Win 10 x64 Family with no problems, 8GB RAM and a 240GB ssd.
I've installed Libre Office suite, Audacity, Mozzila, Photo Filtre, and this is a small computer that runs perfectly well, without taking up any space...and in absolute silence. The start-up is fast and all the applications are fluid. What more could you ask for for the price?
It is a good product that gives complete satisfaction.
The assembly and installation are easy, and does not require any particular skills.
The only drawback is that the processor is a bit light, which is reflected in a few small sluggishnesses that are not annoying for video, otherwise everything is perfect.
I recommend it for office use and simple games.
Nuc bought for office and communication use for an elderly person.
I equipped it with a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO ssd and Gskill RipJaws series SO-DIMM 4GB DDR3L 1600Mhz CL11 ram.
I then installed a Windows 10 via a USB stick. Everything worked the first time.
Lightweight, quiet and very practical.
I recommend it.
With a 120GB Kingston SSD and two 4GB DDR3L 1600MHz G.Skill memory sticks, I installed Lubuntu 18.04 (LTS) without a hitch. The result: a very fast start-up and not a sound, only happiness.
