A product that leaves me wanting more

        Hello,

As a fan of Asus for over twenty years, buying an Asus laptop seemed normal to me. Having a comfortable budget but nothing more, I chose this model during the last Black Friday.

Now it's time to take stock of this purchase.

The Chronopost service in the Nantes region is to be avoided, three deliveries for this product, twice the box exploded and opened and once the box crushed but closed. The shipping department could also provide better quality packaging for such fragile and expensive products.

The grip is good and the product is very pleasant to touch and to look at.
In terms of performance, I'm not disappointed with the product; it 'delivers the goods' when it counts.
Stability-wise, it's not the same melody. My laptop switches itself off and on again at random. It's like a big reset. The laptop has been sent 3 times to an Asus after-sales service (to Portugal via Germany, with a super carbon footprint) with a replaced motherboard, but always with the same symptom. The fourth time it was sent to the LDLC workshops (hats off to the team for their responsiveness and professionalism, it has to be said, when everything goes well) the laptop was replaced by a new one (after a purchase at the end of November and almost 2 months in the workshop/transportation) I told myself that the problem would be solved this time. Except that I have the same problem with the second one.

That's why I'm giving the score I'm giving. I'm going to start a new procedure with LDLC so that we can find a permanent solution because, after all, I'd like to have a computer that works properly all the time...

Maybe I've come across the wrong series or maybe it's the design of the machine that's causing this problem, I don't know.

In any case, this laptop is a whole saga for me...

Medium, the configuration characteristics are incorrect

        Hello
I'm a bit disappointed, it says 2x8GB DDR5 4800Mhz, but it's 1x16GB DDR5 5200Mhz, goodbye dual channel, and 16GB for games is becoming limited anyway.

        For those who want to add a hard drive, it's the same: 1 X M.2 - PCI-E 4.0 x4, whereas it's 1 X M.2 - PCI-E 3.0 x4. And the default main drive is M.2 - PCI-E 5.0 x4.

Same problem with the drivers, you shouldn't update the AMD drivers via the official site but keep the ASUS ones and keep them in standard mode, otherwise you'll have screen problems (flickering, and the brightness doesn't work), for Nvidia you can go to the official site and don't forget to activate Optimus in the Nvidia panel to avoid a disconnection between the two GPUs.

Surfing is fine, except for heavy sites where you'll need to launch on the Nvidia GPU or disable GPU support in your web browser.

As far as games are concerned, there's nothing to say, it's the bomb, Cyberpunk with RT all in ultra I'm running at 70fps.

Battery test: having complete control over the CPU and GPU can greatly increase the time before the battery runs down.

His comments are based on my first experience with an Nvidia/AMD combo, so I may have missed a few things.

        What a machine!

In view of the comments on this product, I would like to share my experience with this computer.

I'm very satisfied with it, and after 1 month's use, I haven't had any problems with it.

Having said that, I did tweak a few things (Armoury Crate, access to the various processor and graphics card boost settings, Windows, etc.) to get total control of the machine and optimise its use.

To date, I haven't had any stability problems, and the performance is spot on - no worries there.

The PC itself is of good quality, solid, nice screen with good colours, the speaker sound is of very good quality, the keyboard is also of good quality.

Like many brand-name portable gamer PCs, this PC may require a bit of computer knowledge in order to get the most out of it and achieve the best possible optimisation/stability. In any case, based on my personal experience, I'm very happy with it.

good performance but stability concerns and a locked system

I'm not very happy with this product:
Of course the performance is excellent, no worries there.
        On the other hand:
        - the audio interface is problematic: I can't get any sound coming out of the speakers on Linux (whereas with headphones it works, indicating that it's not a sound card problem).
        - Since it's a gaming PC, I tried installing ATLAS OS, which ended up with the same speaker problem. LDLC customer support could not help me and I had to reinstall an official Windows
        - since then, the system has been unstable and I've had several blue screen crashes
        - there are sometimes some graphic glitches when using the Brave browser

I will try a complete reinstallation

What's more, Windows 11, which is delivered by default, insists that I log in to a Microsoft account, which I don't want, and I need to know the tricks that allow me to bypass this requirement.

The whole point of the PC range is to leave the user free to choose their OS. Given the price of the machine, I find these restrictions on the part of the manufacturer very unwelcome.

        Powerful but unstable

As an Asus fan, I'm very disappointed with this model.

The Ryzen pairing with the integrated Radeon graphics card and the RTX4070 just don't mix!

Regular crashes when watching Youtube, lots of untimely blue screens in the middle of games! Not a single day without at least one BSOD!

I'm browsing the ASUS forums and I see I'm not the only one, I still haven't found the solution, apparently, with all the drivers up to date, it's no good. I'll have to try uninstalling some drivers and installing older ones (according to the ASUS forums).

It's a real shame because when it behaves more or less normally, gaming is a real pleasure with impeccable performance. And it's not too noisy when it comes to ventilation either.

In short, I hope to have drivers or a perene solution soon.

        very good quality

The PC is extremely powerful and just magnificent, it runs all the games of the moment at more than 144 fps and I've never needed to put it in turbo mode, performance mode is more than enough, I use it with a cooling pad and it doesn't heat up at all.
