I was able to combine it with my syno router to extend my wifi signal without any problem, very efficient product as always with synology.
I was looking for a product to extend my WIFI coverage, and I'd already been won over by the brand on the NAS side. In terms of routers, the SRM management software also gives me complete satisfaction. High-performance equipment with cutting-edge security and network services. Very easy to set up, with lots of software packs for network management, administration, profiles, multimedia broadcasting, secure protocol, etc. Perfect and as expected. Delivery times respected, on time and meticulous. I would recommend this service.
After a few weeks it is satisfactory; it is installed behind my operator box (which does not bridge), followed by an ethernet switch where my devices are connected.
I am not a specialist, but I have not managed to set up the TV channels via the switch and I have to connect the TV decoder directly to the box.
The automatic 2.4/5GHz wifi management allows me to connect all my wifi devices, including those that don't accept 5GHz, in a transparent way, without having to create two networks, one in 2.4 and one in 5.
The Synology home interface (SRM) is well done.

I was looking for a high performance, scalable router that didn't look like a flying saucer. At first I was looking for a Netgear Orbi, but the very 90's interface got the better of me. So I decided on this Synology MR2200ac
For those who have already configured a Synology NAS, they will not be disoriented.
The configuration is smooth and particularly simple. It has all the options or almost all the options that a private individual can wish for, because we mustn't forget that it's still a consumer router.
The performance is very good and it replaces the Wi-Fi of my box which was more and more slow.
For example, in some areas of my home I was struggling with 60Mbps, now I'm between 300 and 400Mbps.
The DS Router mobile application is very well designed to keep an eye on your network in real time, even if it doesn't have all the options of the web interface.
On the negative side, I find that the logs/alerts are not detailed enough and most of the configurable alerts are related to the NAS function.
For example, I would have liked to be notified in real time by email when a new device connects to the network. (This may exist, I'm still looking)
Special mention to LDLC, ordered on Wednesday, received on Friday and configured on Saturday!
Correction to my first comment "All new, all beautiful".
Configured in automatic to extend a network based on RT2600, it worked properly for 3 months. Since then, it's a mess. Every day, since its installation, I use this access for 1h to 1h30. After 1 hour, there is no network connection on my tablet (Samsung S4). If I turn off the MR2200, I instantly get my connection back. In short, bought for nothing. To put in the wardrobe. Contrary to what I thought, it is not better than the Netgear models.
Attention: this comment only concerns the use in MESH mode, not as a conventional router (which I have not tried, being equipped with the RT2600 which works perfectly).
Allows to extend the WI-FI network by retrieving the configuration of the main ASUS router. The configuration is very easy to do: Just plug the new MR2200 access point into the mains, connect to the main router and declare the addition of an access point. The AP is automatically discovered and automatically loads the configuration of the main router. Only then can it be connected via Ethernet cable and it automatically chooses the best connection. It is also possible to impose cable or Wi-FI for the connection to the main router.
So I ordered another one to continue to extend the WI-FI coverage.
I bought this router as a complement to the RT2600ac in order to set up a MESH network, and as a replacement for a NETGEAR EX6150 whose compatibility was not very good, very easy and automatic configuration. No need to rack your brains to make adjustments. It works by itself.
Very good wifi coverage, change of network (2.4 and 5 Ghz) without apparent problem.
Flaws (they are necessary):
- a bit big (for a wifi amp) on a shelf
- does not hang on the wall
- very long updates (with an S) (we believe in the OOBE failure)
- auto configuration as a wifi access point also very long (you have time to go and drink coffee, even two)
It is for these reasons that I have removed one star.

I'm a fan of Synology though. I still have 4 NAS that I renew regularly without asking myself questions about the competition.
I was looking to replace a Netgear WIFI system that was having problems with WPA2/Enterprise authentication (radius protocol connected to an LDAP directory). Of course I was seduced by the Syno interface that I particularly like. In addition, the solution was inexpensive compared to others.
In summary: easy to configure. Very nice interface. Possibility to add packages and thus features.
But very poor performance. For a house of about 200m2, I'm down to 4 satellites and the throughput is not great. The CPU is very busy. Finally, a missing and prohibitive feature, no PVLAN. So no possibility to have several SSID to isolate for example from your LAN all the Google and co bugs, connected TVs, ... except to make them go through the guest network, which is not an option for me. What a disappointment!
This router is technically very good, very well finished. I use it as a gateway for NordVPN, which was honestly complicated to set up. I still have a problem with the QuickConnect remote connection not working...
I spent 145 €for nothing because after 2-3 months of operation, I just removed it to put back in service my old DLink router bought 31 € in 2012!!!
No range, at 6-7 m with a breeze block wall my TV doesn't pick it up enough to watch NETFLIX for example, with the old one it works and I'm not talking about outside.
I have tried several settings and "networks" (2.4 or 5 Ghz) without success, I give up and I will sell it on the good corner. I'm still happy with the LDLC service.
The product arrived very well, Synology quality is there. This router is installed as a secondary repeater of a main router RT2600ac.
The note is not maximum for two reasons.
- the device is very slow, it has no effect at all once configured and set up, but it takes for example 5mn to start it....
- the operation in secondary mode is not very well explained, for example a software update on the main device is it automatically reflected on the secondary, knowing that although of the same brand they are not the same models? The management software of the main router, called "SRM", does see the existence of the secondary, but that's about it. In the end, I still live very well without having this answer....
The title on witchcraft comes from the propagation of waves... Of course, my house, with load-bearing walls and reinforced concrete slab, can be blamed here. But finding the location was quite complicated. Sometimes a displacement of 20cm caused an increase in flow of more than 40%. Other places that seemed natural for communication between the two devices refused the connection. Go figure!
Despite all the updates for the last 8 months, the Mesh network is causing problems and requires the OS to be reinstalled. I stopped the Mesh to have separate Wifi points. On two of the 7 Wifi routers, I have a random router shutdown (LED off, ping not working) which requires turning the router off and on. It's not easy. I have reported the problems to Synology, apart from asking a lot of questions that are not necessarily relevant, I have never had an answer.
I've never had an answer. But when it works, the router is top notch.
I just regret that the Mesh is not in place to facilitate the administration and cascade update of devices.
I've been using it for a long time now, and it's a great tool to help me get the most out of it. It's easy to set up, and doesn't require much knowledge to use.

The web configuration interface is very intuitive.
Don't listen to the beginners who are struggling and don't have the knowledge of TCP/IP networking. You need to have some knowledge, even if everything is done to guide you as much as possible.
I finally have a private wifi network and a guest wifi network with username/password authentication. This allows me to give access and then revoke it.
In addition, content filtering at this price (without subscription) is great.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have a router that has a switch built in. So what? A wan port for the connection and a LAN port connected to a switch.
You don't buy this type of product if you want "design" (that's good for Apple customers ...). We buy Synology to have a product with REAL functionalities! and especially: without ruining ourselves! Because at this price, the MR2200AC has no competitor.
At least, that's my opinion.
As I'm in a house with thick walls, the wifi from my box didn't reach the end of the house.
I had a wifi repeater but it put an _ext to the ssid, so I had to change wifi all the time.
The MR2200AC was set up in 10 minutes.
I now have the same SSID in the whole house and wifi available in the whole house.
Interesting for the programming part to limit children's connections and guest connections.
Good maintenance via a web page like all synology products.
I have been a fan of synology products for many years for NAS, I am not disappointed with the quality of the product.
A little digression:
Having tried the filtering part, I am not convinced. I've tried the filtering part, but I'm not convinced, when will we see a real protection product for children?
This is still too complex for an average efficiency (half a star less).
So I preferred to install a pihole like DNS which filters much more (but not perfect either)
I highly recommend the product.
The wifi of my internet box left something to be desired, both in terms of security and speed. With the MR2200AC, delivered quickly (LDLC always at the top <3), I have made a leap into the 21st century: one where everything is transparent, understandable and configurable. The speeds are multiplied by 2 and more compared to my classic box, the possibilities are really great for those who have a large house: possibility to add and make them communicate automatically, efficiently. Buy it, you won't be disappointed in any way! You will rather say to yourselves in comparison that the Internet providers really deliver us that the minimum union with their box with the reduction... Long live Synology!
Bought in Nov 2018 (the date is important), the product is full of bugs :
- Added to a Rt2600ac, this one crashes regularly.
- The Mesh router connects via Wifi whereas a wired connection connects them (though faster).
- In standalone use the "administrator" account changes to "user" after a manual reboot.
- When connecting two Mesh devices all devices are connected to the first one that has started, no load balancing even after several hours of operation.
After 3 exchanges with the manufacturer's technical service, it was only after I gave the technician a bad mark that I was offered to pass on these bugs to "level 2".
I'm a fan of Synology but on this one, wait a bit for the upgrades to come out.

The aim was to get rid of the pathetic wifi of the livebox Play on my fibre access. The gamble has paid off. Not only do I now have a real access management tool on my network, but I also have at least a 2-fold increase in speed! Amazing.
