Holy Moly!
Overview

The first high performance home Wi-Fi network

The Orbi RBS50Y satellite will extend your existing Orbi Wi-Fi Mesh network. It adds up to 175 m² thanks to its Tri-Band AC3100 Wi-Fi (1733+866+400 Mbit/s) and its 6 integrated antennas with high power amplifier. This system is MU-MIMO and Beamforming compatible, which ensures a stable, powerful and smooth connection. The installation is done in a few clicks from a mobile device for a secure network without signal loss.

In terms of design, Orbi offers elegant products
that look good and fit in perfectly, but what makes Orbi so popular is the satellite. Indeed, it is not a repeater because it remains connected to the same SSID as the router. This means you won't lose your connection and won't have to reconnect to another network.

. It's not a repeater, because you stay on the same wireless network. So you'll have the first home broadband network with an optimised connection where you don't need to reconnect.

Wi-Fi everywhere in your home

With Orbi, you can enjoy extended Wi-Fi anywhere in your home without losing your connection. The Orbi RBS50Y Wi-Fi satellite can cover up to 175 thanks to its Tri-Band AC3000 Wi-Fi.

Orbi adapts to your needs with seamless connectivity between Orbi equipment and modules. With Orbi's triband Wi-Fi system, your equipment can move between the different Orbi modules without having to reconnect. The entire surface of your home will be covered by an ultra-fast network, giving you unparalleled Wi-Fi performance wherever you go.

Quick and easy connection

With the Orbi system, you will no longer experience latency and freezing images. That's because Orbi prevents buffering and lag by creating a very high speed Internet highway for all your equipment. The Orbi Tri-band Wi-Fi system works with your current ISP's modem to maximise the speed you have available.

Orbi supports MU-MIMO (Multi-User MIMO) to stream data simultaneously to multiple devices for maximum download speed and smooth streaming.

It also incorporates Beamforming technology
that improves Wi-Fi power while reducing interference. Instead of broadcasting Wi-Fi signals in all directions, Beamforming focuses a Wi-Fi beam directly on the client devices, optimising signal strength, speed and range.

;

A secure connection

Unlike some Wi-Fi systems, Orbi works with your ISP right out of the box. There's no need to change your current equipment to use your Orbi home Wi-Fi system: Orbi uses a unique Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and in a few clicks, your secure Wi-Fi network is ready to use.

The configuration is done very easily from your smartphone or tablet.

What is SAR or Specific Absorption Rate?

The local Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) quantifies the user's exposure to electromagnetic waves from the equipment concerned. The maximum permitted SAR is 2 W/kg for the head and trunk and 4 W/kg for the limbs.

All products sold on the LDLC.com website comply with this regulation. The SAR values of the products concerned are indicated on the product sheets in the technical data section.

    Nothing to say except...

The product works very well and has good coverage. It's a big one. One downside is the lack of an Ethernet socket contrary to what I had understood from the documentation. There is a logic to this since it is a module that is supposed to be outside but in my case is in an attic and connected to a device that is also in the attic. I'd like to clarify that the setting that allows automatic re-pairing to the router is set to Off by default. Again there is some logic to this since, being outside, the system could be hacked by reconnecting it to another orbi router.
Otherwise nothing to say, it does the job very well.

    Very positive, one small downside

Added on a LBR20 Orbi 4G modem-router network, nothing to complain about. Synchronisation with the router went smoothly as usual with Orbi, even if it had curiously failed the first time. A mistake, no doubt. The module is aesthetic but solid (look at the dimensions in the file) but it is an outdoor module even if I use it indoors in an attic where there are strong variations in temperature winter-summer. However, unless I'm mistaken, or the output is well hidden, the data sheet indicates a female RJ45 PC interface... I haven't found one. The moderator should ask the technical services to check this point on the equipment and the plug. I was able to adapt and I am satisfied as usual with the orbi range that I have been using since its release.
