Run away!

Edit: after my first review which was positive, I had a lot of problems with "weird little noises" when the speakers were turned on, impossible to find out where this was coming from. The noises are "electric" very high pitched but neither constant in form nor continuous, just a redundancy that appeared after a few minutes of operation. Then it was the microphone that started to have problems, my voice was making a lot of "clicks", it was just unbearable to listen to for my interlocutors. After a few tries, it was the card that caused it, impossible to solve it with the software. I strongly advise against the product, which is not finished and is no longer updated.

Very good sound card with good sound.

I had another USB sound card and the quality wasn't great, the USB-C plug didn't fit completely into the box and I quickly had crackling on the central voice and subwoofer output, I thought it was a problem with my 5.1 system, but in fact, when I installed this new sound card, it's no longer the same, the USB plug is type B which fits well in the bottom and doesn't risk to come out. I have only one regret, it's that the female JACK plugs are not coloured so not easy. I made a little table :
left plug / green jack --> front speaker.
Right jack / black jack --> rear speaker.
Centre socket / orange jack --> centre, subwoofer.
As for the quality of the sound, it is only happiness. I didn't use the volume control wheel, I just had to tell my sound system manager that I didn't want stereo output, but 5.1.
I'm on GNU/Linux with Manjaro and I didn't need to install anything.
So it's all good except for the JACK outputs which are not coloured.
The package arrived on time and in good condition.
The box that was in the package is nice, you can tell they made an effort.
        Thank you.

        Works very well.

Just plug it into the usb and it works.
The sound is ok. The box has a volume control wheel. Useful to avoid saturation on speakers already amplified.
The software provided with it works but I find that the different modes and treatments distort the sound. I am not convinced by this software. I deactivated everything. I prefer the sound without treatment in this case.

¨ Unsigned pilots and lack of surround

I have been a fan of ASUS for a long time for the quality of its motherboard and graphics components, but I am really disappointed with this card for the following 2 reasons:
        - (subject already known for more than 1 year at the time of writing) the drivers are still not signed which forces to disable the signature of the drivers and the secure boot in Windows (CF PowerShell ;) ),
        - the second point, in spite of a rather sexy interface, ASUS does not propose any integrated function of Surround to switch a musical source 2.0 on the 5.1 like CREATIVE proposes it since more than 15 years...

        On the plus side:
        - the card is rather compact, fits well and can be carried around,
        - the 24/192 sampling is a real plus for audiophiles, we would have liked to see RCA connectors on the output.

Conclusion: I can't wait for ASUS to finish its sound products properly, including correcting the drivers or integrating a surround sound, which is so basic elsewhere... or for Creative (or someone else) to finally release a 5.1 external card in 24/192 ^^

        Good but...

The sound is really good and pleasant but after more than one use I realize that the sound card has problems such as the driver which is still not updated which makes windows not recognize it (that can be problematic for certain applications which obliges to have all the drivers updated)
The sound card seems to have false contacts so it requires disconnecting and reconnecting the jacks on it or restarting the computer.
In conclusion, the quality is there but not the durability.

        The card works PARTIALLY

Asus released a driver that was supposed to solve the signature problems with the latest versions of Windows (v 1.0.14 of the driver), the problem for me is that the drivers are active and signed but the user interface does not work at all, go to the competition, Asus had as good answer to tell me to wait, 6 months that no official solution from Asus works.

        The Card 10/10
        The Soft 0/10

good, but driver incompatible with W10 20H2 (driver signature problem)

By disabling the signature check, it "passes" but it is still disappointing. The ASUS site says: "Please wait for new ASUS driver versions. If possible, please do not install new Win10 20H2 if you wish to use the associated ASUS audio products." How long do we have to wait?

        Fickle driver and unsatisfactory sound

The sound card itself works well but I found myself struggling with the driver refusing to install on the latest version of windows 10, I managed to get it to work by installing it as soon as I reset my system before updating it.
The sound quality was unfortunately not up to scratch, little bass transmitted to my BeyerDinamics headphones and an EQ that causes unpleasant saturation. I found myself with a screaming treble. My headphones produce an exceptional sound on another DAC of another brand.

        Does the job well

I use it to transform 2 pairs of Bose speakers into a 5.1 system on which I deactivate the subwoofer and the central. The Xonar U5 software doesn't allow much in the way of settings, so it's better to use the Windows speaker management. For the passage in headphone/mic it is fast, and the sound is the.

        Very good material

The card does its job very well. Very easy to set up and use. Personally, Sonic Studio is not very good. I like raw sound. I don't really like fuss. If you are looking for a good sound card without spending too much money, go for it. I mainly use the digital output. Thanks LDLC!

        Good product, slight software flaw

The product is of good manufacture, the sound rendering is excellent and I have no noise either in the headphones or the speakers (pre-amplified).
The output amplification level is high enough for my use.
The software is very simple, easy to set up but suffers from a defect: if you activate the option "start with windows" then at each startup it triggers the security pop ups "do you authorize this program nanana".

        Top awesome and bluffing

I have turned my laptop into an excellent hi-fi system. The setup program is a breeze. This product is equivalent to the Creative Sound Blaster Omni Surround 5.1 that I had a couple of years ago.

        almost perfect

A very good external audio card. The installation was done without any problem (I don't think it's related, but you never know, my PC has an asus motherboard and the drive used for the installation is the same brand). The software that comes with it installs quickly and is very intuitive.
Its biggest problem is the connections. Indeed, if one is not initiated with audio, the errors of connection can easily occur since the colour code of the cables is not displayed.

        Very good

It's great, the only small improvement would have been to be able to connect two outputs at the same time. Apart from that it's perfect.
It's good quality, the rotary volume control is also very good.
