Hydrodynamic Bearing Fan (FDB)
High-performance Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fans are designed to take advantage of the impact-absorbing effects of oil. They are extremely reliable and generate much less operating noise and heat than ball-bearing fans. Lubrication of the bearing surface reduces friction and vibration and, consequently, overall energy consumption. Thanks to effortless, quieter rotation and robust construction, this reliable fan technology also significantly increases fan life.
As the fan shaft rotates, high-pressure oil drifts along the grooves in the bearing sleeve to generate a thin layer of lubrication between the bearing faces. As the speed increases, the dynamic pressure of the oil also increases and the shaft is lifted out of the bearing to create smooth, effortless rotations. The chevron shape of the grooves effectively channels the lubricant and prevents leakage.
