SONOS RAY: Beautiful design but cannot receive sound from my Pioneer plasma

LDLC at its best: delivery within 48 hours. Package received in very good condition.
Optical connection from TV to SONOS
Installation of the SONOS RAY product is simple: 1 cable for the optical connection to the Pioneer Plasma TV model PDP-427XD, another for the mains connection.
Commissioning (very simple) is done via the SONOS application (smartphone iOS or Android system).
So far so good, but then the problem appeared! It's not SONOS's fault, it's my Pioneer Plasma TV that's at fault (it works very well, despite its age).
The TV has built-in speakers (2x13w) and there's nothing in the TV's Home Menu to change the sound output to the sound bar!
