Holy Moly!
Overview

Reliable, affordable and secure

Make your writing easier with the LDLC AZERTY+. This improved wired keyboard offers a more efficient key layout to make it easier for you to write French as well as regional and European languages. With its sleek and compact design, it will easily fit on your desk, while its splash resistance will come in handy in case of an office accident. With its durable character printing, it will be your ally for many years.

An optimised AZERTY keyboard

In 2015, the Ministry of Culture asked the French Association for Standardisation (AFNOR) to work on a more efficient key layout for the French keyboard. A broad consultation was initiated in 2017. It included scientists (including linguists and ergonomists), manufacturers and a large number of end users (professionals, individuals, developers, etc.). The NF Z 71-300 standard, which is voluntary, will be published in April 2019 after having obtained the consensus of the commission members.

LDLC's AZERTY+ keyboard layout complies with Annex A of this standard. It improves the usual AZERTY layout - without revolutionising it - in order to make it easier to enter certain characters: "double chevrons", accented capitals, ligatures (oe, æ), etc. Keyboard ergonomics have also been improved for regional and European languages with a Latin alphabet (German, Spanish, etc.). The AZERTY layout also allows faster access to certain signs used in software development and in modern usage (such as the @ or the hash/hashtag #). Almost perfect - especially as it is (unfortunately) the only one.

It was the first AZERTY+ keyboard (NF Z71-300).
It is still the only one.

I ordered three, two for the home PCs, one for the office PC.

I'm very pleased with it, really, as a developer and commentator who is easily verbose and attentive to spelling as well as spelling.

The only downside (of the standard, not the keyboard) is the layout of the _ (AltGr 8)... after two years of use, I still often get my fingers too crossed at this manipulation.

I've been using it for two years now, and it's still too much of a pain in the ass to use.

And I recommend to the users of this new product to advertise it everywhere!

    Excellent keyboard!

There are a few oddly placed keys (& and % for example), but you get used to them. This keyboard is much more logical than the basic QWERTY keyboard anyway. It's basically the AZERTY keyboard as it should have been.

Switching from this keyboard to a regular keyboard isn't that disturbing; I really enjoy using it on a daily basis (I'm writing this review on it) and I haven't lost the habit of writing on regular keyboards.
    A very good purchase.

    Good product, but defect present

The product is fully compliant with the description and finally allows writing in French (easily), which in itself is extraordinary.

However, I notice a slight manufacturing defect that was not identified by the quality control team: the glyphs in the bottom right-hand corner glued to the "9" and "0" keys seem to be interchanged.
According to the standard, the "9" key should contain the "Guillemet-apostrophe double tumbled" character, but the glyph on the keyboard corresponds to the "Guillemet-apostrophe double" character.
This can be seen in one of the photos illustrating the product sheet.

    it's about time

I'm Belgian so I have an azerty keyboard (be)
I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do this, but I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do this.
I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to use it in the future, but I'm sure I'll be able to.
I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to use it in the future, but I'm sure I'll be able to use it in the future,
    I love it.
The next one I'll buy without hesitation, which will be of better quality, we understood.

    Second identical purchase for work!

I like to write correctly with accented capitals and the correct multiplication sign, etc. I am delighted with this AZERTY +? version!
It's the only one on the market at the moment and I hope that the offer will grow little by little, but this one is in any case very good. The keys are nice, even if they are not very quiet. The new layout of the accented letters (à, é, è...) is easy to get used to. My first AZERTY+ keyboard is more than a year old and it hasn't moved, the key decals are still perfect!

    Mitigated

Quite soft but rather noisy keys.
It takes some time to get used to the new layout.
Negative point for me: key combinations with ALT + (nbre) do not seem to work for using particular characters (e.g. ? with ALT+1 or ? with ALT+3)

    As an occasional supplement

I enthusiastically commend LDLC for having a keyboard made to AZERTY+ standard. After research, it seems that they are the only supplier, which is a shame for the others and all the more credit to LDLC.

The typing quality is not as good as my Logitech K800, which was to be expected at LDLC's selling price. Adding a more expensive model with a more comfortable feel and wireless would have been nice, but I don't want to denigrate the only supplier of a keyboard to this standard.

In use, after half a century of typing on the traditional AZERTY keyboard, I appreciate the ease of the dot and accented capitals of the AZERTY+ standard; on the other hand, the apostrophe carried over to the 8 key is rather disturbing.

For everyday use (email, web, diary, games) I use my traditional, comfortable K800 keyboard and if I'm going to be doing some lengthy writing (extended mail, extensive text) I plug in this more suitable keyboard.

Good improvement of the AZERTY keyboard

This keyboard is of good quality, and is excellent value for money.
The driver installation was quick and trouble-free under Windows 10 20H2. Under Kubuntu 20.04 LTS, the drivers are natively available and the keyboard is recognized.
I like to find on this keyboard the accented capitals, the French inverted commas and the ligatures, which makes it possible to forget the keyboard shortcuts under Windows.
It takes a little time to get used to it as some keys have been moved (the "." for example), but the transition is easy compared to a standard AZERTY keyboard.
Thank you LDLC for taking into account customers looking for alternative keyboards!

Return after one year of use

I quickly got used to the layout which is really comfortable for writing in French. But this also applies to German and Spanish, because the ß and ~ keys are easily accessible. All accents are.

It takes a few weeks to get used to the layout of some keys. But it's still nice. The letters on the keyboard had faded a bit in the first month, but it has stabilised. It hasn't moved since.

Conclusion: it's a good keyboard, and I'm a big fan of the key layout. I don't know if this layout is easily available on Windows, but on Ubuntu it's been available for a while :)
