Does the job well once the connectivity issues are resolved
This product is rather expensive compared to rudimentary solutions (without cradle), but it allows to have the discs firmly positioned. Note that the 3.5 thin discs tend to float.
The big advantage of this product is the ON/OFF button on the front. It seems secondary, but you know if the dock is on or not, and you don't have to look for the switch behind it.
The two small concerns are: you can't add or remove the second drive without removing the first one. Once understood, you have to eject the first disk before any operation.... It's not a big deal.
The second problem is the USB to USB-C adapter. I used to use it and it caused a lot of problems (read error, impossible to format the disk). As soon as I put a charge on the dock it didn't work anymore (I checked with an iostat). I've since removed the adapter and everything works great with very good transfer speeds (I have an SSD and a slot HDD).
As for cloning, I haven't tested it.
