So far, so good
Being still on a 60hz screen, I finally decided to jump to 120hz+.
The slap!
At the beginning not more than that, but it was linked to a bad setting on my part:
- nvidia driver not up to date
- Still in 60hz in Windows
- and so on.
Then a real treat:
the cursor movement in Windows is much more readable, fluid... the 2K in Excel is really appreciable.
On the games side,
Real gain in visual comfort, obvious on fast FPS like OW.
But also on other games, even on WoW!
- Design :
The design is very good, despite the slight green border (almost invisible).
The plastics are of good quality and the finish is good.
Negative points :
- with a screen like this one, it is not negotiable to display another resolution than 2k, so inevitably if you don't have powerful components behind you it will be very complicated to stay at 60 fps + !
This was my case ... I switched to an RTX2070 evga (which is by the way another very good product) ... and a recent processor on socket 1151.
And from there, yes! With such a configuration one can hope to reach 120fps + in recent games. And take advantage of the 120hz / 144hz of the screen.
In a way, it's a poisoned gift :)
- Very slight light leakage at the bottom left, but it's still very good compared to screens I've had in the past.
- the settings buttons are not well placed, it's a real pain to change the settings... a joystick next time please... on the other hand once the screen is set you don't come back to it very often.
- anecdotal speakers: apart from hearing Windows error notifications, don't expect to do anything with this sound system: forget music, YouTube etc, you'll need a speaker kit or a good headset!
- it's a lottery, for the moment my screen looks pretty good, let's see in a year how many dead pixels I'll have!
