The printer is very fast, quiet and has good print quality. It's a pity that it can't be shared on a network.
I'm a pro and don't print much at home, but when I do print, I don't want to be bothered, it has to work straight away; I print in b&w, standard A4, double-sided as required, QUICKLY, QUICKLY, and for not too much money per page.
This printer respects these criteria perfectly, as long as you only install the drivers (in Windows) and not the useless and buggy Brother software.
Paradoxically, I appreciate the good old USB 2.0 connectivity (which, at 30 Mb/s, is quite sufficient), but I have one point less for the extra cable to buy, even if I had plenty in stock. The RJ45, bof, bof, the network configuration to do or the switch in DHCP, no interest for me.
It's fast, really fast: on single-sided documents, the 20/40 page minutes (single-sided/duplex) are respected, to my great surprise; it starts up much faster than the huge professional printers in my company; within 5 seconds and it goes out for a text document. It's a good idea to have a quick warm-up! I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use a printer that is a bit noisy, but it's a good idea to use a printer that is a bit noisy.
PCL and Postscript 3, super practical since it takes PDFs in near-native mode, 1200x1200 DPI, economical mode (dark grey instead of matte black to save ink), it has everything going for it for well under 200€ with a laser technology that doesn't dry out, unlike inkjet, which is so problematic for occasional printing
After that, at Canard Toner, the 8,000 page branded cartridge is 43.20€ and the 50,000 page drum is 54€, and that also counts in my choice.
