I have had these wrist rests for 2 and a half years now (1 at work and 1 at home) and I find them pleasant to the touch, rather sturdy (a few cracks in the hard plastic on the support but invisible because they are on the work surface).
The only downside is that they are a bit too high, which means I use them more as an "elbow" rest than a "wrist" rest.

not knowing which product to choose, i bought 2 different models, one for each of my workstations.
This one is of good quality construction,
quite thick, it is well suited for a high keyboard.
The gel is quite firm.
It provides a good correction of the wrist position, but is less comfortable than a softer product. It is still less hard than the desktop.
Very good product that I recommend. It's a must have for my thick laptop like the MSI Titan Pro. Adjustable in height (2 positions), mobile and pleasant in use.

I've been using it for a while now, but it's a good idea to keep it up to date with the times.
