Great value for money!
I wanted to get some speakers that were a bit nicer than my previous ones, the Peeble Pro from Creative, which are very practical and compact. I've been keeping an eye on the Edifier range for a while now and the reviews are generally positive, highlighting the quality/price ratio. My choice fell on these MR3s for this secondary setup.
I was very pleasantly surprised.
Firstly, the overall finish of the speakers has no particular fault, it's very clean. Compared to the Bose Companion 2 which are/was in the same price range, the perceived and observed quality is well above that of the Bose. In terms of connections, it's pretty good, with RCA, TRS, Bluetooth and 3.5mm jack.
In terms of audio, it's pretty impressive for the price. The highs are clear and chiselled, although there is a slight sibilance at high frequencies. The mids are very clean and sound very good. Bass levels are surprisingly good for a system of this size. Obviously it doesn't go as low as a subwoofer, given the size of the speakers, but it's pretty clean and full-bodied. The bass has substance and is present. They lack a little precision in fast phases, but the result is convincing.
The speakers have a good reserve of power and an office will sound great. I tried out a number of styles, from opera with Tosca conducted by Carlos Kleiber to Da Funk by Daft Punk, Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, In the End by Linkin Park, The Monster by Eminem, I'm Coming Out by Diana Ross and others, and the result was very convincing. I only boosted the bass using the potentiometer on the back of the speakers to adjust the sound.
I think it's hard to find anything better at this price.
And once again, top preparation and delivery by LDLC.
