I bought it 3 weeks ago.
As I'm having a bit of trouble with computers, I'm gradually getting used to it... I used to use a Mac, so I need to learn other ways of doing things. Apparently I'll have to get the hang of it fairly quickly.
I was looking for a robust laptop because I carry it in a rucksack every day. Most of the low- to mid-range models on offer today don't inspire my confidence at all, with their soft plastic shells and fragile-looking hinges.
On the contrary, I'm very happy with my new all-metal Altyk: when you have the product in front of you, look at it from every angle or open it with one hand and feel that the hinges are neither too strong nor too weak, you can clearly see the care that has been taken to provide a high level of finish. And I find the whole thing sober and very elegant.
The keyboard gives the same impression, with a very pleasant touch and feel. This is perhaps less the case with the touchpad, which makes a slightly unpleasant noise when you hit it to click, but it's rather large and precise to use.
I'm not very resource-hungry, so I'm not in the best position to judge its performance, but I'm very satisfied with it for my use and I can at least testify to an installation of Linux (Ubuntu 24) without any nasty surprises.
Thanks to LDLC for pointing me in the direction of this little-known brand, which I hope will continue to offer laptops that are so well thought-out and that I can recommend.
