Overview

DC600M: SSD for mixed-use server workloads

The Kingston DC600M SSD is a SATA 3.0 SSD featuring 3D TLC NAND for mixed-use server workloads. The DC600M is suitable for use in high-density rack servers and includes on-board hardware-based power protection (PLP ). Using capacitors, the DC600M protects data from unexpected power interruptions to reduce the risk of data loss and ensure the SSD successfully resets the next time the system boots.

SSDs for enterprise data centres

  • Designed for data centre environments: The DC600M is optimised to meet the high demands of RAID server applications with low latency and I/O consistency as key design criteria.
  • Hardware PLP: Capacitors to protect user data from unexpected power interruptions and improve performance
  • Excellent Quality of Service (QoS): Optimised performance predictability to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Excellent SSD but price fluctuates too much

I've had 2 SSDs in 'production' in my server since the summer of 2024 and I've really improved performance and responsiveness compared with the SAS hard drives I had before. As for endurance, we'll see over time but I've carefully increased the space reserved on the SSDs to increase the number of 'spare' blocks and gain in lifespan.
The only downside is the price. I was lucky enough to buy them for around 720€ each (April 2024). More expensive isn't necessarily a good deal, and I'm sorry I didn't buy more because the price has been going up ever since.
